Kobe or LeBron

Post by Tyek »

On the radio today several shows on ESPN talked about this subject. The idea was if you had to choose one of these two to start your franchise who would you choose?

I hate Kobe so I am biased, but I think Lebron has far more upside. He PASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. He can score and he is a mature leader. Oh and did I mention he passes?

I was curious as to others thoughts on this.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

LeBron. He's already more mature than Kobe will ever be.

LeBron. I think he's mostly young and hasn't had a chance to fuck up yet, but hopefully he's listening to people and learning from them. It would appear that Kobe's biggest problem is that he thinks he knows everything already. Hopefully the recent booings, jersey sale declines, legal battles, and offcourt NBA drama with Shaq and Malone will make him step back and pull his head out of his ass.

eh to say Kobe doesn't pass isn't exactly true. However, I would also take LeBron.

That said, people here in the Cleveland/Akron area were quite disappointed when James knocked up his gf.

Yeah, Lebron is way more exciting of a player than Kobe. Lebron hands down.

Kobe is now injured, so I'm leaning even more strongly toward Lebron!

He should have just raped her (Kobe) and then had a nephew kill her after finding out she was pregnant (Phoenix Suns player did this ..Jerrad Mustaf in the late 80's/early 90's). It takes your jersey sales down to around the bottom of the top 50 but maybe they would accept that as more of a typical NBA player action.

No. There is a pretty bad problem with very young girls getting pregnant in the poorer areas of Cleveland and Akron and a LOT of people commented that LeBron set a bad example for the people here who pretty much worship him.

I agree with Talelor. LeBron has played hard, practiced hard, and developed into one of the top players in the NBA at the age of 19 or whatever the hell he is. He's also stayed away from the trouble that pursues many players off the court and has generally portrayed a positive image in every way possible, despite the fact that he has no obligation to do so. Lord knows why his girlfriend is pregnant. Maybe the condom broke and they didn't want an abortion. Maybe they actually wanted a kid. Who gives a fuck?

I recommend that next time you talk to someone who criticizes LeBron for this, you smack them in the face and tell them to get some perspective.

I don't really care either way, just relaying what some have been saying since he is such an idol in the area here.

Lebron without a doubt. Take away Shaq, and now we're left with the real Kobe.... a 40% shooter and turnover machine. Both have to carry their teams, but Lebron is getting the job done better in only his 2nd year.

Kobe.. old school talent, he has shown he doesn't care what he has to do or how! he has to do it to get his awy. LeBron? So tired of the hype around this guy.

You must have a very short term memory if you think Kobe in any way qualifies as an "old school" type of ballplayer. Lebron is already parsecs ahead of where Kobe was in terms of their respective development stages.

Kobe doesn't suck by a long shot.. and I might make the argument that LeBron has better role players surrounding him atm.

LeBron is much more of an "old-school player" than Kobe. Kobe is a good defensive player and capable of going one-on-one and beating his man off the dribble. LeBron is a much better shooter, a much better passer, and a better rebounder. He can score when he dominates the ball and he can score off the ball. He makes his teammates better (evidence: Carlos Boozer, Drew Gooden, Jeff McInnis). Kobe takes good players and makes them worse (evidence: Lamar Odom).

LeBron's team is on the same level as Kobes team. Two years ago the Cavs won 17 games. The Lakers were in the Finals last year.

LeBron outrebounds and outassists Kobe. He doesn't outscore him, but he does outshoot him by like 8%.

I can't even come up with a sensible argument for Kobe.

I'll give you one: More experience in big games. And he has shown he can make the big shot.

I'd still choose LeBron but (and I don't particularly like Kobe) wont deny that Kobe is a damn good player as well.

A few months back I was watching ESPN Classic and seeing replays of some of the Lakers finals games back when they were winning three straight.

Kobe did not perform well. I remember that during the third finals, everyone was talking about how they wanted him to win the finals MVP. Unfortunately for Kobe, Shaq was way too good, dominated everyone, and won the finals MVP for the third time in three tries.

Kobe was an excellent supporting player for Shaq during their runs. He did make some great plays, but Shaq made more and Robert Horry made most of the big shots. The Lakers started losing when Kobe developed into a good enough player to take some of the attention away from Shaq. In my opinion, this is because he is not a championship player.

Derek Fisher has lots of experience in big games and he still sucks.

To say Kobe Bryant does not pass isn't exactly true.......

He is averaging 6.6 assist per game this year compared to the 7.3 assists per game of Lebron. He also averages 20.6 shots per game and James averages 19 shots per game.

Difference is not really that great.

But, I would take Lebron James hands down. He has leadership abilities in which Kobe has crap for leadership abilities. Labron makes those around him better of which Koba does not.

Kobe also has the ball in his hands all the fucking time. When you have the ball in your hand all the fucking time you're going to get assists, because occasionally you have to pass the ball and occasionally your teammates will score. LeBron, not being a ballhog and being on a team that actually has a real point guard, does not obtain this benefit.

Of course, that will also inflate Kobe's turnovers compared to LeBron.

Yes. This is reflected in the fact that Kobe leads the NBA in turnovers, worse than such luminaries as Allen Iverson, Steve Francis, and Antoine Walker.
