Bend it like Beckham

Post by Winnow »

Good movie.

86/100

-points for originality
-learned a little about the Sikh religion
-stars an indian girl and Kiera Knightly of Pirates of the Caribbean fame.
-fits in the feel good movie category which we all need a dose of once in awhile

I had a few drinks while watching this so my rating of this movie has a 5 point + or - variance!

That indian girl is in the cast of ER last I checked so she wasn't a flash in he pan or unrecognizable any longer.
They're Sikh's fyi.

I also thought it was a very good movie in the 8.5 range

edited my post to more accurately reflect what I learned about! The indian girl was a good actor so I'm not surprised she found work afterwards.

I finally caught this last night (btw, Comcast onDemand movies kick ass)...

I'll give it a 9/10. It was very enjoyable to watch, had just enough humor, and moved along very nicely.

I thought the ending was a little sappy. If I were the director, I would have ended it after the airport scene...that was a perfect ending. But instead, they drag it on way too long, showing Jules' parents getting the SC sweatshirts, and Jess' parents looking at the team photo...and then we see Joe playing cricket with Jess' dad. I half expected them to drag it out all the way to seeing Jess playing in a pro league and getting married to Joe.
Other than the above gripe, both my wife and I really enjoyed this movie.

I was suprised by this movie as well. I never added it to my Netflix list even though I kept seeing it in their top 100 list. My mom had it on hers, so I just watched it when she got it. Much much better than I thought it would be.
