Need help with tradeskills

Alright I have no idea whatsoever on how to do tradeskills. I picked Outfitter to make armor or weapons for my soon to be monk (haven't decided which yet). I joined a guild and walked around, picked up a quest. But I have no clue on how to do anything to do anything, is there a recipe book I need? Does it tell me what ingredients I need or how to make them? Any kind of help would be grateful.

When inside your tradeskill instance (society) d-click on the different machines(forges, stoves, etc) you will see the different recipes you have available. It will show you what ingredients you need. Most ingredients are buyable at the vendor inside the instance, one ingredient, at least, will need to be made or harvested form resource nodes in mob areas.

Tier one, for example, where you start out at, if you are in Qeynos, would be The Caves, Oakmyst Forest, Forest Ruins, Peat Bog, etc...Tier 2 would be Antonica, and so on.
