How powerful is your class?

Post by Fash »

I've only got 2 viewpoints on this so far.

1) I started a fighter, and felt like i was in EQ1, fighting even cons, running to the guards, sitting down for extended periods after every fight. /lame

2) I started a cleric, and from the start was able to hunt yellow+ mobs, and fight again with very little downtime. Last night as a lvl 13 cleric, I was able to consistently solo lvl 16 and lvl 17 bears/wolves/crabs in antonica... and they weren't even close fights.... I did 85% of level 13 last night in a few hours, without a death, and without fighting anything below a yellow con. (20% xp was from a quest)

It's a powerful feeling, and I get a kick out of it.... are other classes kicking ass too?

You must be doing something wrong or your gear sucked.
My 17 figher can take on yellow and orange solos quite easily. Can handle '2 up' blues but they are close fights. Fighters really benefit from using HOs when they solo.

When I logged on last night, I was beating up yellow Caltorsis knight/mage/clerics in Antonica and I could take on about 3-4 in a row before I had to rest to regain power. I got about 40% of my level in a little over an hour.

Clerics will eventually be nerfed. We are kinda powerful.

I have gain three full level;s simply by questing. I'm addicted. I max out my quest journal and knock out anout 10-15 in a row. I have completed more than 100 quest thus far. Great gear that I sell for 4 s each.

I'm now on my 2nd gold .. weeeeee.

I'm still lonely though. Got some lower levels in Oakmyst yesterday to kill Rotweed. It was a blast. I am having more fun playing than I have in EQ since I got Time flagged.

My gear sucks and I can still do yellow and orange mobs as a rogue. I could do them a shit ton easier if I used poisons, but I would have at least 30-40% health left in most cases.

I only played the fighter for a day, so I meant at a low level that's the way it seemed. Sounds awesome at lvl 17.

12 Summoner here, I have root a dot and a pet plus dd spells. I can solo quite well. My scout is also capable of soloing one yellow with ease and a couple of them with skill.

P.S. Isn't it true that sitting doesn't help you regen any faster, I thought it was influenced by things like eating food/drinking water and not whether you sat or stood.

7 fighter, solo up to and including oranges no problem. Can even do yellow groups of up to 3 without dying. HOs are your friend in a huge frickin way.

17 Rogue almost 18, 165 Quests done.

As for my soloability, I can do yellows and even cons no problem. My heroic is a stun, couple that with my regular stun and my knock down attack, I can just about permastun anyone on 2 legs! =)

Level 14 enchanter and solo'ing isn't great. Can usually solo a yellow 2 levels higher but I won't try anything higher. Typical.

My 16 summoner does fine. I can solo with care but groups of mobs higher than straight blue give me problems.

What I'd really like to know is whay Valhall can't travel around Runnyeye server in groups of less than 20 :) Seems to me you never see just one of them ;)

Kinda stalled at 140, but I have a number of quests I have to head back to Qeynos to close up. Spent too much time in Thundering Steppes last night.

Not many quests done....but after I got some decent gear I found I can solo ridiculous shit as a 15 rogue. Killing even con mobs while losing just over a bubble of health. I was able to kill 3 even con gnolls at once last night.....with a too weak for me poison.

Teh sweet rotation was to use either a bow to pull....or backstab. Then pop the HO startup with Dirty Tricks to lower their AC....if smugglers luck was the outcome I would shift it with evade to get ringing blow.....then gouge, quick flurry, gnoll masters strike, then HO again....finish it off with either bludgeon or quick strike. Absolutely ridiculous ammount of damage. I could probably finish mobs off even faster if I actually went through the hassle of turning off attack and using the Ringing Blow or Cheap Tricks stuns to move behind the mob and use sneak attack or backstab.

I must be a total moron, but I cannot figure out the HO stuff. The wheel will pop up with a sword icon. . .I dont have any skills or spells that seem to match that. Does that represent something else? Is there somewhere I can see what the icons represent?

What class are you? Each class has their own unique symbols on wheels, some have multiple classes on wheel (Such as a scout when it flips another classes wheel).

Sword icon is for Scouts. It's no wonder you couldn't complete that HO. Priests icon is a hammer I believe

best exp ever--shit filled (forget the name) scarecrows by the steppes station, took out 1.5 levels in 2 hours from 12 to 14

also theres a cool little subzone with a lot of undead mobs in antonica, we got a really nice 1h axe and i took a nice spear out of that encounter

I haven't played Everquest 2 these past few days cause I've been trying WoW out, but my main character is a level 20 wizard. I've leveled this character mostly through grouping and questing since I don't find it to be a very good solo class. It has high DPS, but roots are unreliable, and he can't take much of a beating. One on one, I can kill up to normal yellows with him, but it gets risky. Level 13^^ mobs still kick his ass. :)

I was expecting berserkers to be a stronger DPS but were more of a tanking class then i imagined, still theres not too much to complain about, our damage is still right up there with monks and rogues...and were still the 2nd or 3rd best tanks around

Sorry to break it to you, but SK/Pal out tank Guardians, making berserkers the 4th best tank in the game. Mid level range anyways. They have awesome dmg mitigation spells and can wear anything a guardian can except the heavy shields. Sides, as a zerker you can either rage to do fat dmg but tank like utter shit, or you can basically say im not a zerker and not use rage and thus give up your identity...Zerkers are still great tanks dont get me wrong, but certainly not top two. It's npot really until 35+ that guardians begin to out tank SK/Pal. Guardians do however have some nice taunt management skills, but any well-geared zerker can consistently draw aggro off guardians who are non stop taunting if they use all their styles. I;ve found if I duel wield my ebon quarterstaffs and not use soldier's stance, I can keep taunt without a problem in any situation, but then im giving up over 200ac and big dmg mitigation from the Soldier's Stance style. Catch 22...I'm basically a Fighter if I dont use Shield and Soldier's stance to tank, and not a true guardian...

Hope it changes in the near future, it's frustrating to get taunt stolen from me consistently from Zerkers. And yes, I have adept I taunts all round except taunting challenge (app I still).

Best group I've been associated thgus far consisted of, Beserker, Pally, Pally, Pally, Swashbuckler.

I was the only healer and it went swimmingly. No deaths on white and yellow ^^ mobs. and had off tanks for adds. Kicked Stormhold's ass.

Not certain if this is an anomoly, but man I had fun.

Swashbuckler is a huge class for agro management. Swarthy is enormous in keeping agro on the tank.

Priest, Guardian, Swashbuckler group of 3 that can do Yellow 2ups easily....and orange 2ups as long as they don't AE DoT.
