Taking bets he retires in peace because the majority of the country is grateful to him for the hard work he's done to keep us safe.

I hear he got offered a job with a radical Islamic terrorist group because they were impressed with his record of antagonizing Americans, and consider his religeous zeal "inspiring".

I might have heard wrong, though. I think I was on some pretty heavy shit at the time.

Even conservatives will have to laugh at that statement.

The Branch Davidiots was prolly the worst failure of Janet Reno during her term, followed closely by the drubbing she took running for Gubna of FL.

I don't recall anything nice being said about Janet Reno while she held the position. It had nothing to do with he looking like a man.

On Gonzalez:
His reputation is more of a moderate.
So was Bush's reputation when he ran in 2000.

Anyone know about his "conservative" record?
The two big things I know off the top of my head are:

1. Drafted the "Tourture is good memo" (as noted above by Voro.)

2. Architect of the "Everything is a State Secret" Doctrine of Bush in Texas and now in the W.H.

The problem is his record is that of an attorney. Speaking as one, the "problems" we are asked to solve are not usually our own origination. That is, it is unlike Gonzalez went to Bush and told him that abusing State Secret principals and Tourture were good things. More likely he was asked to craft a memo/policy on both with the objective result already ordained. His job would have been to come up with the best defense of those policies - not to craft them himself. So its hard to know how he will act in a political possition from the record we know of his so far.

Now that would be a race where i would be truly undecided on. It would have been Guliani until he came out with blind support for bush in the last election, and hillary is also against the electoral college which is good...would be a fun race anyhow! and also a less polarizing one then this one...but i doubt the republicans would nominate him...anything short of a right wing extremist religious fanatic is too "liberal" for the new republican party, specially with all there jesus crispie votes in the last election

Hillary against say Gengrich or some bible belt senator is much more likely

McCain will be too old
