Computer to TV sound

I am trying to get my computer to display on my TV. I have the video part working through my VIVO nvidia card but I am having a hell of a time getting my sound into my tv. I am using a stereo/video single jack that "turns into" a set of component cables. I am plugging those two audio component cables into my tv but no sound. I have tried teh speaker out jack and the Line-out jack on my sound card (nforce do-jobby built into motherboard). What am I missing here?

You'll have to plug line-out into a stereo system or something -- or get a high-end sound card that supplies you with RCA red/white out to be plugged into your TV.

Plugging directly into my stereo receiver did the trick although there is some feedback noise coming in somewhere. It might be the cheap cabling I am using. I am going to hit radio shack make some custom cables of a decent length.
