Killzone

Post by Funkmasterr »

I don't know if this game is new or old, I just saw it yesterday and decided to grab it. But I am really impressed so far, I actually went out and bought some ethernet cable so I could try the online aspect of it too, and I was pretty impressed with the simplicity of it.

Has anyone else played this much? Or play it online at all ?

I guess it is a fairly new game.. Been playing a bit online, trying to get my accuracy up, Haven't played a FPS in a long time.

If anyone picks this up and wants to get a game going anytime, send me a pm with your user name so I can add you to the buddy list.

Explain it a bit more. Other than it is a FPS. What genre is it in? Who or what are the bad guys? From the name I am getting an image of a Vietnam War kind of game.

It is a mix of a modern war and a futuristic twist.

The guns, and battle fields and stuff are more modern type. There are no halo type weapons where you shoot out little blue lazers and shit. But it is supposed to take place somewhere in space, and once in a while you encounter a few space ship type things, but they are always just dropping people off.

Also, if you play the game, you will notice lots of similarities between the situations you are put in in the game, and situations of historic battles.

The controls are easy, the only thing I would say is that if you are going to play the online portion of it (which is easy and fast to set up and use) you may want a keyboard to type for talking, cause thats kind of a pain. Other than that I like the game a lot, it is fun, graphics are good, it's challenging, I would give it a 8.5/10

Edit: The basic storyline is similar to the chronicles of riddick kind of, these people called the Hellghast decide to take over teh universe planet by planet, and they are on the planet you are on, they start to invade and you are teh hero. The bad guys, for all I can tell are human, but just have something "special" about them.

Oh yeah, its for the ps2, since I hadn't said that yet.

Bumping this thread to try and get people to play !

The servers are not all that crowded yet for online play. I have chatted with tons of people who like this over halo 2 while online (I can't comment on halo 2 yet myself - no xbox.).

As far as the single player campaign, I am not sure how long it will take. I have probably spent somewhere in the 10-15 hour range. The single player campaign is probably more of a challenge than on any other game I have played of this genre. It is generally you and your three followers(who don't do shit) against about 30-60 hostiles in your average level. And you are very limited on your ammo, if you are a bad shot and waste lots of ammo you may end up having to punch the shit out of something.

If anyone is playing my name online is johnblaze

It is Sony's player in the Halo, Metroid battle. It has been highly touted on the gaming mags but seemed to arrive quietly somehow anyway.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

I was going to say it's the best first person shooter that I've played on ps2, but then I thought to myself "I don't think I've ever played any or even know of any ps2 first person shooters".
