Overseas vote etc...

Post by Marbus »

So Kerry conceded but all the votes and the final count won't be done for some time.

Question: What if the final vote comes back that Kerry actually won the election. Has he lost it now because he conceded or would he still be the next President and Bush be really pissed at the media?

Once you conceede the race, it's over. Keep in mind, I don't even think ballots have been counted yet in two states because the electroal count won't matter.

It was question Winnow, back off. Like those hypotheticals you all were tossing aroundif the electoral vote split 269-269. Give it a rest.

I thought that Kerry conceeded too early. 2 week would've been an acceptable delay imo before a official concession.

Regardless, what's done is done.

Of course you think this way. You are a selfish short sighted person. You have no respect for the process and the long term ramifications of dragging it out for no reason. Obviously you have been sleeping over the past four years.

ok, here's the right info...

assuming you're talking about absentee ballots (largely military), it would take 136, 484 late votes for Kerry from absentee ballots out of Ohio for him to win that state and not have any more votes go to Bush in that state.

but Kerry conceded. also,

Once he conceeds, that is basically it. They won't either bother counting the rest. Of course, there will be some shit hitting the fan if word gets out about that one county in Ohio that had negative 25k votes, but it won't do the Dems any good.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

It's not selfish or shortsited the final count wasn't in yet and Bush didn't win by a landslide, he barley won the election so basically. Bitter? Yes but not so much as saddened by the stupidity of the American public. I'll say it again, lets wait about 12-20 year and see what history has to say... that is, if we have a history at that point.

Someone on the Kerry team can do math, so he conceeded.

Grow up, and enjoy your 1 of 2 choices for President.

The State Attorny General of Ohio that was on TV the night of the election said they were counting the absentee votes first. I think I saw him that night either on FOX or ABC can't remember sense I was switching back and forth.
