Partitioning
I need to do one small re-partition without having to reformat the whole drive. I know Partition Magic can do this, but I'd rather not have to pay 70 bucks for a one time use situation. Are there any other options out there that can do the same job for less expense?

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

If your OS is W2Kpro, W2Ksrv, WXPpro, or W2003srv you can use the diskpart command line tool to extend a primary partition on a basic disk if there is a contiguous block of unallocated space. However, you cannot extend the current system or boot partition on a basic disk.
If you do not have contiguous unallocated space on the same disk -OR- if you have unallocated space on a different physical disk -OR- if you need to extend the system or boot partition, you can use the disk management tool to upgrade your basic disk to a dynamic disk. Dynamic disks volumes can be extended to any unallocated space on any physical disk, but they cannot be truncated using diskpart or disk management.
