It got a horrible review from IGN.

I'm interested in the solo aspect. Is it as bad as it sounds or is it pretty decent?

The single player campaigns are ok...but they are definitely not what keeps the game going...it's the online play is where it really shines...with the xbox at least since 24 people can play at the same time.

The reviews at ign weren't that bad...85 isn't that bad of a score, they mainly just downplayed at how bad the AI is. Though I do agree...after a few months most people would probably get a bit tired of it since there isn't too many maps to play on.

k, let's clear somthing up.
Most of the time, when I play a shooter, I want someone I can do solo. I've got PS & CS for multiplayer.

Is this a worthwhile game for single player aspirations or not?

Yes you can go through the campaign co-op split screen though I have yet to try it out to see how good it actually is split screen.

Just played this a bit last night, and while I haven't done the online multiplayer and thus can't agree/disagree with your above praise, I can say that the single player is pretty friggin' boring. It's almost like a rather bad Tribes wanna be from what I could gather. (Speaking of which, I kinda miss that game.. what was that, 1996?)

If the multiplayer is nothing more than just having other people on the other side/team, then I guess I don't see how it's very exciting.

You run around killing stuff.. you die.. you respawn.. you possibly die.. eventually your team likely gets a Victory by somehow or another capturing the other side's glowy spots on the map. Maybe I'm missing something, but from what I saw so far, this game isn't worth buying, playing or downloading.

I played it a little last night but I was dead tired from playing the much better XMen Legends game that just came out for the XBox.

I must pull a slight Kerry and flip flop on my praise of FPS shooters on the XBox and say that FPSers suck in general on Consoles. HALO is so much easier to play and be accurate with your shots using a keyboard and mouse. I'm guessing the same applies for Star Wars Battlefront as well.

The game seems to have great potential for multiplayer fragfest battles but I'll be downloading it for the PC to do that. The little thumbstick is no match for a nice mouse : (

Last good FPS I played on the console was Perfect Dark.
For everything else, it's PC baby, all the way.

I can't stand the PC of Halo....Runs better and plays better in my opinion on xbox especially on a nice TV.

What does a TV have to do with how it plays? If you have a slower PC you might have an arguement that it plays smoother on the XBox but not visually.

FPS and console gaming sinmply do not mix IMO. Furthermore, the XBox to PC Halo translation was total fucking shit. It was a direct port that didn't take advantage of anything extra that PCs offer. All future console to PC ports need to look at the GTA translations.

That says something about how good Halo is as it's the best I've played on the PC and I've played all the big FPS games to come along.

It's a shame we won't get a PC port of Halo2 for a long time after it's released for the XBox in November.

Got this yesterday and been having a lot of fun with it (PC version). Computer ai is dumb as a rock, but the maps are cool looking, and lots of good fun carnage.
