SP 2 problems

Post by Soreali »

I'm trying to install SP 2 on my system. It gets about halfway done and just gives me an error message saying Access Denied. Any input or explinations as to why this is happening are greatly appreciated..

Thanks again.
Timmah.

You are either A) not logged onto the system in question with administrator rights or B) there is a critical file somewhere in your system that is owned by a group/user other than administrator.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

What a hunk of junk. I tried to install it at work, about 5 exceptions during install. I rebooted and the shell (explorer) would not load. I had to reboot into safe mode and click no when I logged in so I could rollback to yesterday's configuration.

Computer was a Dell Dual Processor Xeon workstation with factory install Windows XP Pro with all the hotfixes installed, Norton AV, Office 2003 , VS 2003 and 6.0, and Firefox. The computer was maybe 2 months old.

I was able to rollback (yeah, yeah, I put too much trust into MS, I should have imaged the drive first) The computer is back to normal and I made an image for my next attempt to install SP2. I'll remove Firefox (as it bitched about that) and probably disabled Norton AV.

I ran into a couple of issues where the BIOS of the MB needs to be flashed in order to actually boot correctly after installing SP2. It kept locking up at AGP440.sys until I flashed the BIOS.
