A wierd 'blip' sound.

Post by Akaran_D »

Ok, this is odd as hell. Started sometime after I got SP2, don't know if it's related.

Every few hours, I get this odd 'blip' sound from my PC. When it occurs, any window I'm in becomes deselected, any game I'm in is minimized to the desktop (BAD THING), ect. No windows pop up, nothing else happens, and I'm able to resume normaly right after.

It's driving me NUTS.

Halp. :(

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Check to make sure SP2 didn't reset some energy saver settings or task scheduling. I was getting the "No virus protection" warning for awhile every so often.

I had something similar happen to me. I had put my pager on vibrate when I was at bar the other weekend since I couldn't hear it if it went off ith the noise.

I heard this low hum sound every few minutes for 4 days before noticing that I had 5 unread pages and it was still on vibrate.

Do the standard stuff as well like scan for virus's and spyware. Search the Microsoft Knowledgebase for articles that might relate to your situation.
