So they made the decision in 3½ hours? Seems like bollocks, but whatever, they decided not to release for whatever reason, bottom line remains the same.

Heard they cancelled it due to info that WoW was in it's stress test?

I got the impression from the email they sent out that there was a coding problem. My guess is that it had to be a major one to end the project completely. It was looking nice but there didn't seem to be any real progress except for game lore and such.

They probably took a look at EQ2 and WoW, realized that their market share wouldn't be massive coz the competition was good, and decided to can the project. Technical difficulties wouldn't make sense in this regard, they are simply pissing up and down the back of the people who supported this game for a long time.

Mind you, i am not one of the long time supporters, i just think what they are doing is really bad form.

They had always promised loads of game mechanics that would be near impossible to provide in an MMO game. There was also an insistence that the server code run using TCP/IP even though the (incredibly well qualified and experienced) server code lead tried to tell them UDP was the way. He was continually over-ruled but this was a general problem in the way the project was run (pay highly qualified staff then ignore their suggestions).
They'd also, to my admittedly outdated knowledge, never solved the PvP design issues.
The project was doomed 2 years ago when I left it. Not because I left it :P But the problems were there for anyone with any knowledge of MMOs to see.
