VV,
Im not sure exactly where to post this since it's a mix of a game, writing, and site design. So move it if you will:
My friends and I from http://www.reetsite.com started working on a Module for the game Neverwinter Nights.
Originally we were going to do an EverQuest remake, but someone's already working on one. So we went in an original direction. We wrote our own random mob spawn / wander scripts, came up with our own overlying storyline (not required), and made a lot of our own items.
Of course this is in pre-pre-pre alpha, but the Website ( http://brian.reetsite.com ) is up and running with the opening conversation (under the story link) posted to give you a taste of the story and how it begins.
Looking for comments on the story, the site design, the idea, anything and everything.
Thanks,
Neziroth / Brian

We don't have anything playable yet, though we're going to upload one of the dungeons from the game eventually - hopefully in a few weeks.
That should give you an idea of what to expect, we're hoping it will help to show off exactly what we're capable of. Expect puzzles, expect scripted events, lore, unique items, unique monsters - the works.
The post was basically just to get our name out there. We're goign to set up forums for the game soon, then hopefully some real discussion will start. When we get those set up I'll post the link here.
As for plans, we have an entire storyline framework laid out. It's all pretty original for the most part, and should keep you entertained (we hope).
The world plans are a little more sketchy. We have two people making zones, and we're mix-matching them into place. We have a basic map drawn out of whats going to be where, though dungeons are just getting placed all over the place at the moment.
We plan to have dungeons that the story doesn't take you to at all, and exploring them is your own choice. Let's just say almost every area or "zone" if you will is going to have a dungeon somewhere in it. A cave, sewers, a tomb - something.
This isn't just a quick get-it-done type project. We're goign to take our time, and spend probably the better part of a year (or more) working part-time on it.
I just hope people still play NWN and it has a respectable fanbase when we're done. =)

I hear you on that. I have been trying to get my damn third part of my trilogy done so I can beta it with my friends before summer is over. It is a lot of work, even borrowing ideas it takes a lot of time to get things how you want them and my modules are pretty much just LAN game hack and slashers. I do enjoy it, but I won't be doing another module for a long long time. The zone creation and hak pak assembling alone took almost two weeks to do on this last one and I have put 2-3 months in on it and still have not tested anything beyond the zone pathing and connections yet. Also, scripting anything more complex than Fed Ex quests can be a pain. Great design tools, otherwise, though. I hope they include a similr thing in Jade Empire.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that my modules are the Mine of Twin Summit series on the NWN Vault, if anyone plays NWN with the expansions and wants to check them out. Feel free to make fun of my efforts, publicly.

War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."
Dwight Eisenhower

i've got an amazing idea.
there is this swamp, and as you go deep into the swamp there is this entrance to what appears to be the ruins of a once great city. The gate is guarded by two strange humanoids, with shiny wet skin, and large heads with no neck. ANyways, they are gimps you kill them and get like 5gp.
anyways, you go down and turn right and look out for the gators, and go back to find the magician who already got lost and you are hardly fucking there. but anyway, you get down to this bigger room with more of these frog looking guys. The glower at you dubiously. You could probably win this fight.
So you keep moving deeper, and you come to a passage on your right with a ramp leading down, and the smell of death is repugnant. But the smell of fat loot is sweet. You go in.
With your travelling band of adventurers is the dwarven priest Hinar.
Hinar shouts "camp check"
Xorg says out of character "Ass"
Dynamic shouts "magi"
Azuth shouts "you twot - you aren't camping magi"
Cav, Sav, Lord, Frenzy, are also camped.
"Jeez let's go to liveside" I say
" i dont kill live frogs" the douchebag druid in your group says
"fuck you"
anyway, just a starting point

Does your module require any of the NWN expansions?
