VICK!
So I am watching CNN today and they say that Vick pulled a hamstring. However, they report that Vick said he is not going to miss any training camp as a result of it. My question is, do you think he will survive the season injury free? Do you think he would be a first/second round choice in a fantasy football league?
I wouldn't draft Vick until the 5th round or later.
Since I'm drafting against you in a few weeks I can't go into details! There are only 2, maybe 3 QBs I would consider in the 2nd/3rd rounds and if they were gone. I'd wait until the 6-8th rounds to pick up a QB.
Too much parity with QBs to blow an early pick on most.

Very true, Winnow. I know that some dumbass is going to waste a 1st or 2nd round pick on Vick, and they're welcome to him.

More powah to you Voro. I regard Vick as too much of a risk. Yes, his potential payoff is huge, but he's too fragile for my taste.
Every linebacker and safety in the league is gonna tee off on his ass every time he creeps past the line of scrimage. Derrik Brooks is every bit as fast, hits like a truck, and plays in the same division. I predict a career ending injury a la Joe Theisman sometime this season

That game got the Packers into the playoffs. I was at the Packer game when we found out. Cheering was going on 2 minutes before the end of the game and because Sherman wouldn't let the score be shown on the jumbotron the Packers had no clue. It was a very great game. Possibly the best game I have been to.
Side note: FF players remember that your QB gets points for completions.

I was watching the Packer game as well because the Cardinal home game was blacked out : )Bubba Grizz wrote:That game got the Packers into the playoffs. I was at the Packer game when we found out. With all this hate for McCown, I should get him cheap in the draft!
-Denny Green is a proven winner with new QBs and runs a fantasy football friendly system.
-McCown has lets see...
-Anquan Bolden, offensive rookie of the year
-Larry Fitzgerald, #1 WR picked this year (made a stupendous one handed catch in practice a few days ago)
-Byant Johnson, 1st round draft pick last year that did ok but was injured and then fell in the shadow of Anquan. Solid #3 WR.
-Freddie Banks, good veteren receiving TE
-Emmitt Smith, while ancient, is a decent receiver (Shipp just dislocated his ankle and is out at least 12 weeks)
All indications are that McCown will have good stats this year barring injuries that all players are prone to.
Arizona has a shaky running game, no defense and a new coach that is all about throwing the ball.
Look for some nice numbers out of McCown for a bargain price in drafts this year. I plan to pick him up in the 9th or 10th rounds this year as my 2nd QB that will probably end up starting for me.

/shrug. I thought we were playing the new one, but I'm not positive. All I know for sure is Vick ran all over the Pats defense.Winnow wrote:Did you read that or do you have the game? I just downloaded the new Madden 2005 for XBox last night. I think the official release date is today or the 12th in stores.masteen wrote:/shrug. Visually it doesn't compare to the new ESPN 2K5 but using Franchise mode, the season statistics seemed to be more on par with what you would expect from a regular NFL season.
Madden appears to have the edge in playablility and I really like the free roaming replay camera.
Madden will cost you more 49.00, but it may be the better game this year for X-Box Live play.
Madden 2005 is only about 3.3GB while ESPN is 6.3GB so there's quite a difference in extra content.
Commentary is much smoother in the ESPN game than in Madden. Tony Bruno acts as the radio DJ while you're messing around in the Menus and checking stats in Madden. He interviews a few coaches and players. Sountrack may be better in Madden 2005.
I break it down like this
Madden 2005:
Gameplay
Franchise mode
Soundtrack
ESPN 2K5
Presentation
Graphics
Audio (hits atmosphere, commentary)
Both great games. NFL game fans should be happy with this rivalry pushing each other to make better games in the coming years.
