Is it possible to get the hard drive for the PS2 without buying FF? I have been looking around at whatever sites I can get to from work without any luck. I don't have the PS2 yet, but I am trying to decide between that and the XBox. I have had both systems in the past and I either sold them or gave them to family/friends. Now I don't know which to get since I like things about both systems. Also, does the Hard Drive function similar to the XBox with things like saving music for game soundtracks, or is it just used for saving games?
The main thing that has me swaying towards the XBox this time is the Hard Drive since I hated having the memory cards on the PS2, but the amount and variety of games available for the PS2 keeps me from just going to the XBox.
Helps me prease!

It's sooooo much easier with the XBox! I have both systems. For the PS2, I have stacks of DVDs while on the XBox, I never touch a DVD. it goes from newsgroups, to PC HD, to XBox HD all via the net and LAN.Boogahz wrote:Is it possible to get the hard drive for the PS2 without buying FF? To answer your question, it is possible but not as easy to setup and get games on the HD as with the XBox. With XBox you can get the Big Ass Emulator Disk and have 47,000 old classic console games running off your HD as well along with an additional 300 Super NES games.
What's holding you up from going to the Xbox? Final Fantasy? The games run better on the XBox, look better on the XBox and the XBox has overtaken new console sales from PS2 so you can be sure new games will be releaseed on both consoles for the most part.
Before I had an XBox, my only argument in favor of the PS2 was how easy it was to play copied games with swap disks and FFX. With modding and a HD, everything shifts dramatically in favor of the X-Box.

All that has been keeping me from deciding really has been the HD on the PS2. It used to be that the lack of one was the main thing that held me away from getting another PS2, but since it came back I just hadn't followed whether it was any good or not. I have been talking with some friends, and most have PS2's that they play online. That's why I started looking back at the PS2 a bit more.
The number of games available was something that had me also leaning towards the PS2, but I admit that I haven't really looked at what there was in a while since I have just been using my PC's.

The number of games on PS2 vs XBox is overrated. All the recent releases are on both with XBox looking visually better most of the time. Check out recent releases for all console systems here:Boogahz wrote:
