VVs are back!

Post by Sylvus »

Unfortunately much of the value in the VV market was based on speculation that just didn't pan out. With the bursting of the tech bubble, the Enron scandal, and loss of investor convidence, the great VV Crash of 2004 has left us all trembling in its wake.

All items/effects that were previously bought should still be around, but previous VVs were all lost. Don't worry, there are some cool new ways to earn VVs... Now you get more points for starting a post than you do for replying, as well as gaining points every time someone replies to you and for posting things with more content in them.

We also have a lottery system in place, and we'll get a lottery going soon, which will be another way to earn VVs at a quicker rate.

We will be removing interest, as that is a big portion of what caused the great crash of '04, and we'll try to add more fun things to spend your VVs on as we can. Thanks a lot for your patience in their return, and please feel free to bitch at me now.

I'm in the process of populating the data in there right now. It's basically going to keep track of those people who have donated monies to keeping the server up and running in the past.

Not entirely positive what we'll be doing with those points, but they'll certainly be more valuable than VVs and if you have Teh VV Fund credits that means I have a soft spot in my heart for you!

No bank. I'm not sure if that's as of right now or for good, but VVs became totally worthless toward the end of the old board when people could have millions of them without ever even posting. Invest in the lottery, on VV and irl, that's the true way to become rich!

I still don't recall where the whole Christy Turlington thing ever came from.

Perhaps, we could institute some form of minor recompensation by giving every existing account a number of VVs equal to their post count.

In any case, well done, Sylvus!

Sort of like when you're at a bar, see a hot chick, think it'd be logical to go up to her and sing to her to impress her.. But hard to implement because your speech is slurred and you never really could sing in the first place. Yeah.. I know what you mean!

Not sure if this is a bug with the lottery but thought I'd let ya know about it. I went to the lottery screen and entered a "2" in the box to purchase 2 tickets. Clicked on buy tickets and it shows me owning 1 ticket but it took both of my precious VVs!
