DAoC

Post by Elf »

Not sure if its posted here or not, if so, sorry.

But I decided to play the new frontiers that has battle grounds for every level range. I can honestly say its been a lot of fun if your into PVP.

The new frontiers expansion basicly lets you get really nice exp, money, and rps for just PVPing all the time. Its definatley worth playing if you have an hour or two to burn.

Well just my commentary if anyone is bored and wanted something to play. I play on Bedever as a hib, currently in the level 35-39 bg.

I played Batlegrounds for a while, sadly playing Midgard you got rushed by Albs, think we had the centre keep like once in 5 months.
It could be that the only purpose for your every existence, is to serve as a warning to others.

I've played DAoC fulltime since November or so and the NF expansion (which was free btw.. weeeh!) has it's good and bad sides. The battlegrounds for all level ranges are awesome, can have a lot of fun there while levelling. At the same time they are moving further away from PvE requirements and making levelling a lot faster, so people can join RvR.

In full-scale RvR a lot of the fighting has moved from 1-2 group gank squads to more zerg vs zerg. Full scale armies attacking eachother in keeps with siege equipment everywhere etc. Unfortunately, they managed to make tanks less useful so a lot of tanks rerolled, and now it seems that there are not enough tanks around.

All in all NF was a good upgrade to the game and once tuned (the porting needs toned down) it will be good for the game.

I got a postcard asking me to come back for 14 days to try it out. Well, I got on and I couldn't remember how to do anything. My camera got detached from my character so I couldn't see where I was moving. I couldn't figure out how to change the view from 3rd person to 1st person. I got frustrated and quit. However, they were doing a lot of updates on which keep was taken or being invaded and such and that sounded like it would be a lot of fun. I really love the artwork.
