depends on where you are staying ( if you are sleeping in the city )

The Park in the summer is awesome. With the random performers walking around, spur of the moment events. People watching is a trip. Lots to see.

Near the park a personal favorite eat spot is the Brooklyn Diner ( its not really a diner ) on 59th , headed east from columbus circle.

Go walk down 42nd street. I just went to this a month ago, but there is a Madame Taussaud's wax musem at 42nd/9th. That is worth a look for sure.

And heres one for the Bubba Grizz in us all, go to Scores. (theres 2, east and west ) < east is new >

Carmine's in Times Square is good, if you like Italian. I'm sure there are 'hipper' places, but Carmine's is good food and affordable. It's family style (gigantic portions) so you better bring someone with ya! It's right next to a good chinese place too called Ollie's.

If you go to Carmine's though, make a reservation or put your name on the list via call ahead on the phone first, even if they tell you they aren't busy.

Go to The Met, and check out Monet's water lilies: an amazing experience to see them in person.

If you don't go to the Met you're insane. That place is Jesus and a half.

The Met is awesome, and the Guggenheim (sp?) is also fantastic.

The new Scores is on the west side (on 28th between 10th and 11th Aves)
You're better off going to Stiletto on 8th Ave (43rd and 44th St, near the Port Authority Bus Terminal), it's ALL NUDE. Bad part is you have to get loaded before going there since it's a juice bar
