Sex in the City
Does anyone watch this show? I have seen a few commercials about it but never watched it. Is it any good?

HBO has, hands-down, the best original programming on television. Personally I don't care for Sex and the City nearly as much as their other shows, but I think it's aimed at more of an older demographic than myself. Or one with a lack of penis. In my opinion HBO alone is worth the price of cable. The Sopranos, Oz, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mind of the Married Man, Inside the NFL, Hard Knocks (owns btw... it's like a reality tv show except each season it follows the players at some team's NFL training camp. Ravens last year, Cowboys this year), all of the assorted documentaries... HBO is what's on my television 90% of the time that it's turned on.
/edit: Feh, forgot my favorite, Mr. Show. Kids in the Hall did a couple of their seasons on HBO, as well, back in the day.

Sarah jessica parker used to be semi-attractive, back before she got cheek bones the size of a horse's though.
Nowadays she's Calista Flockheart 2.0, albeit not as Anorexic.
John Doe and Pretender are pretty decent new shows on other stations, as for HBO I have to say the Soprano's are the best out.

Sarah Jessica Parker is the apitomy of 'Buttah-Face'.
Probably not work safe, but it's evident she works out.[/url]

Curb Your Enthusiasm was on that list!
And Gak, I didn't know you had good taste?!? I can honestly say that I'm the world's biggest Mr. Show fan. I saw the "Mr. Show Hooray for America" tour last week and it was awesome! They did some of the skits from the show as well as some new stuff, and it was all tied together in the same stream-of-consciousness that the show is built around. Hilarious stuff, I'd highly recommend going to it if it comes to your town.

I watched Six Feet Under religiously when I had cable. That and Iron Chef over on Food Network. Ok, and Farscape over on Sci-Fi. Sex and the City was good for the occassional laugh.
Xyphir, that pic of SJP doesn't look right (head too big?). I'm gonna venture a guess and say fake.

I like Sex and the City, though they really don't live the lives of most females, more like gay men trapped in female bodies. I really loved Mr. Show and then who could forget the Larry Sanders show, that show rocked!

You really think so? Though I've seen it several times and I haven't really paid a lot of attention to it, the one thing that I have gleaned from it is that New York chicks are too high maintenance. Nice stereotypes they have, too. The cynical penis hater, the tired old slut, the prissy prude, and whatever SJP is... the ultra-trendy, horribly co-dependent observer of the universe.Zamtuk wrote:The only value that Sex and the City has to offer is some helpful tips on women. I guess I didn't realize how much I hate that show until I started talking about it.

ALl those shows are good, Sex and the City is a lil too much for me. but Mr Show, Sopranos, Six Feet, Larry, Curb all great stuff.
There are two shows that own them all tho. TAXI CAB CONFESSIONS! and the classic Not Neccesarily The News! I used to watch NNTN when i was a young lad.

it is more talking about sex than actually doing it (which happens on occassion). but it is definitely a show for adults not kids.Bubba Grizz wrote:Do these women live up to the name and actually have sex or do they just talk about it? I assume that because it is hbo that it might not be safe for kids to watch?
comments like Samantha going on and on about how wonderful her boyfriends cock is.
I definitely think that Sex and the City is a humorous show. Very entertaining and aside from the extreme NYC cliche that these women fall under, the core of their situations are pretty realistic. You're basically seeing the games men and women play during the "dating" phase all the way to the "committed" relationship.
My personal favorite episode was the "rim job" one. Miranda for the first time gets a rim job. She absolutely loves it but goes into this long detailed conversation with the girls about how she doesn't want to return the favor. A few scenes later, she's in the bed with the guy. He's naked laying on his stomach and she's back behind him giving him a massage. The camera pans toward the front of his face and you can see her behind him massaging away. Then all of a sudden his ass shoots up in the air! WHAM! The look on her face was incredible. I nearly fell out of the chair laughing so hard. Her hands are still on him massaging, but she's leaning her entire body back away from his ass. Finally she can't take anymore and she just blurts out, "I'M NOT GONNA DO THAT!" He gets all hissy pissy and they never see each other again.
Ok, it may not be funny now, but damn it was funny at the time!
