NBA Finals Game 2
According to Luke Walton, the crowd gathered around 10 pm and harrased them for 1.5hours outside of the hotel across the street on top of a parking garage until the police showed up dispersed the crowd and shut down the road for the lakers.
Oh noes, the lakers were kept awake until 11:30p.m. while secluded in their hotels and harrassed from acrossed a four lane road (100 feet away by people yelling) While 200 people yelling and honking horns would be annoying, I could always do such things as shut the window or turn the volume up on the TV or uncover the hostesses mouth and listen to her cry while i rape her (sorry that was uncalled for but I couldn't resist) until the police arrived to take care of the crowd.

As a Laker fan, I can honestly say that I wouldn't think it was funny if other Laker fans were doing similar things outside of Detroit's hotel.xZiBiT wrote:According to Luke Walton, the crowd gathered around 10 pm and harrased them for 1.5hours outside of the hotel across the street on top of a parking garage until the police showed up dispersed the crowd and shut down the road for the lakers.

Well, I'm a Pistons fan and while I don't find it lol-tastic, I also don't think it's a crime against humanity, which is pretty much what I think xz was also trying to say.
100 fans (out of the millions who live in the area) made some noise across the street from their hotel, and it ended about 22 hours before the game started, at around 8pm Lakers' time. I'd virtually guarantee that on a regular road game night there wouldn't be a Laker sleeping at 8pm PST, let alone the night before their first away game of a Finals series that they are in pretty serious danger of letting slip away from them. Sure, it'd be annoying but athletes travelling to competing cities endure annoyances from opposing fans all the time.

That's comedy gold right there! Almost as funny as the "Showtime" Lakers scoring 68 points.xZiBiT wrote:While 200 people yelling and honking horns would be annoying, I could always do such things as shut the window or turn the volume up on the TV or uncover the hostesses mouth and listen to her cry while i rape her (sorry that was uncalled for but I couldn't resist) until the police arrived to take care of the crowd.

It is not anything new really. I could probably look up several cases in the finals of a sport where the actual teams did things to keep the other team up all night or rattle them like that. There were some episodes on ESPN where and unnamed NFL team from the LA area did this to the team they were playing in the Super Bowl.
Thats exactly the point I was trying to make. Its not fucking genocide to harass your home teams opponent. I'm sure it happens all the time.Sylvus wrote:Well, I'm a Pistons fan and while I don't find it lol-tastic, I also don't think it's a crime against humanity, which is pretty much what I think xz was also trying to say.
Lets see, the crowd despersed at 11:30p.m. EST and the Lakers had there pre-game walkthrough at 2p.m.
Oh no!!!!! The lakers only had 14 and a half hours to sleep. They obviously needed there 16 hours of sleep and that must be the reason they lost the game
But I must be wrong cause i'm an "idiot" and Kelshera is always right.
Now, i wouldn't have been one of those people that were out there at 10p.m. but sometimes people do crazy shit to 'try' to help there teams. I highly doubt those fools outside the hotel had any impact on the Lakers' preparation.
For the Lakers/any athletes to expect not to be harrassed on the road in a championship atmosphere is as asinine as these dumbass actors who want to keep their lives 'private'
And if you wanna talk bullshit, as if being one of the dirtiest players in the NBA, now Karl Malone has to poke fans in the face?

In response to some things that have been said:
Additionally, he's a great passer. He averages a reasonable number of assists, but they don't truly reflect his ability. Many of his best passes are to set up, not finish, plays. He'll drive, draw defenders, mix up the defense, and then throw a pass and create a play. Since the play being created often requires another pass or two, he doesn't always get statistical credit for his ability.
He's also a leader and a clutch player. After he throws up a 4/25, he almost invariably comes back with 35 points. Watch the tape of game 1 of the 2001 finals. His playoff scoring average is among the all-time highest.
There certainly are criticisms to be made: his field goal percentage is low, he doesn't practice hard enough, he doesn't work out hard enough, and he's kind of a prima donna. But his talent and value is undeniable.
As a sixers fan, I would not necessarily be opposed to trading him. But some of the names that I'd heard thrown around are ridiculous. AI for Vince Carter? No way. Jerry Stackhouse? Steve Francis? None of those are close to equal talent. Now I wouldn't expect the sixers to get someone better than that in a trade. Iverson's baggage makes him less valuable than his talent dictates. But I would expect the sixers to get a package that would involve young talent, cap savings, and draft picks. Getting rid of Iverson commits the sixers to a total rebuilding phase with a coach who likes veteran players. And who are they going to build around? Sammy Dalembert? I doubt it.
In regards to the series:
The Pistons have been clearly the better team. They've outplayed the Lakers in all 3 games. Whoever said that the Lakers stole a game in LA were dead on. I'm predicting that the Pistons come out of Detroit with a 3-2 lead and then take game 6 in LA.
Gary Payton's behavior and play have been a total embarassment. The future hall of famer can't find minutes in the 4th quarter anywhere. And it's not like the Lakers bench is particularly stellar: A hurt Derek Fisher and Luke Walton are now better than Gary fucking Payton? Pathetic. And the man can't even bring himself to cheer for his teammates? If the lakers do win the championship, Gary Payton deserves no credit whatsoever.
I'd agree with most of that. At this point, I think it's necessary for players I would rank ahead of Kobe to have won at least a championship or two. John Stockton might be a special case.Karae wrote:I'd like to add quite a few people to Sueven's list.

This I disagree with. Iverson's game is far more than scoring. Being so short, he is limited in a number of aspects, and can be overmatched on defense by bigger players. However, he is a great help defender and constantly leads the league in steals. His quickness allows him to produce turnovers, cut off lanes, and turn good plays into broken plays. He's one of the most valuable defensive assets in the league.Karae wrote:I'd just like to say, as a matter of personal opinion, that I don't think Allen Iverson is a great player. I could score 25 a game if I got 50 shots! Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but his game does seem a lot like a throw-it-up and hope-it-goes-in style. If I had a doller for everytime he went 4/25 I'd be richer than he is!
