Try voicing an opinion other than the most widely accepted one and see how much hate you get.
There's just as much hate in the US it's just buried under smiles. Once you scratch the surface a little bit that juicy, venomous, "do as we say or we'll fuckin nuke you" side comes out.
Lalanae, I am not coming across as a know-it-all American, just as one that is smarter than you.
I shall break down the sequence of events for you (that means the order of things).
The above post, poorly written, implies that vn_Tanc feels that if you voice an opinion outside of what is believed by mainstream America, no matter where you are, you will be hated. It also implies that all Americans have the attitude where if you are against us, you will be attacked. That is not so, as is pointed out in the following:
vn_Tanc
Have you even been to the US. And I mean for more than a holiday?
Go to Berkley. See how much "hate" you get for voicing an opinion that is against the mainstream. You will fit right in actually.
Now I know it might be hard for you to follow, but the next set of responses was not even directed at vn_Tanc, but rather in response to a statement from Miir, and was simply giving a background of where I got my experiences. Do try to keep up deary.
Having lived in Europe and England for over 6 years, I can tell you exactly where it comes from.
During the six years I lived in Europe, there wasn't a day that went by that I did not have to combat that stereotype
The above was in response to Miir's post:
Maybe you should ask yourself why those American stereotypes exist in the first place.
The reason it was stated was background, having seen the television that is broadcast overseas, and actually spent time with numerous (more than a weeks vacation) people from throughout Europe and England. (Yes, I know the UK is part of Europe, but don't tell them that. Some don't like to think that way).
Now, back on track with vn_Tanc. Note the following quote, which futher supports the belief that he feels he is the utmost authority. One which you seem to follow like the good little sheep:
I've been to the US once. Most of my contact IRL has been through work. Then there is the virtual contact I've had with Americans here and in EQ.
In all of these situations the number of people who broke the stereotype has been far outweighed by the people who match it. That's why they're stereotypes.
Again, here it is stated that because of the FEW people he has met, and the FEW who have broken the
admitted stereotypes, the rest of America must follow suit.
Following his post, I inject sarcasm. Go look the word up if you are unsure of its meaning, as I don't have time to remedy your lack of education or ability to detect sarcasm. I further reinforce (to him this time) my experiences, and the fact that I
learned that the world outside of the US is not as it is depicted in the media.
After that, you jump on your soapbox. Proving yet again, that you have no concept of what is going on around you, and proving once again, your limited ability to comprehend what is written, or ability to follow a logical train of thought.
