There's two basic points everyone has tried to make and you're blinding yourself to them:
a) a criminal is a person who commits a crime. A cop beating a suspect is commiting a crime and therefore a criminal yet you seem to not share the same disdain for them.
b) the suspect the cops are beating (maybe not in this specific case) might very well be an innocent person just trying to live a decent life. Case in point: my mother gets a knock on the door at 2 am. She wakes up, opens the door and there's two cops there saying that there's two kids accusing her of a hit and run. She gets arrested and it's proven that my mom was asleep at the time and the car that was pointed out as being the one my mom drove in the
"ALLEGED" hit and run belongs to a friend of the neighbour who parked it on her lawn. Her case is dismissed. Now, by your definition, it's ok if my mom (a mother of 7, girl scout leader, teacher for the past 35 years, etc) to get the hell beat out of her because she's suspected of a crime. That's utter and complete bullshit.
I'm fairly certain that here's where you say "well no, every case is different". That's our exact point. Every case *is* different. You can have eye witnesses, physical evidence, etc and still have the wrong person. That's why there's a judicial process. Everyone has to be given a chance to prove themselves innocent (or dig their own grave, as the case may be). [/b]
