I can't believe the Titans took Young. I'm aside myself with how people in these lofty positions of NFL importance make such shitty decisions. I'm sure people will come out to watch the running QB. I'm sure merchandise sales will go up. I'm also sure running QB's who can't throw, won't win. Donovan is the most sucessful shitty throwing "athletic" QB. Unless the Titans put together a killer Eagle-like Defense to carry them through all the shitty QB play all season long, the Titans will see themselves exiting the playoffs and watching the Super Bowl from their homes.
It's too bad his ego won't allow him to change positions, because he would go down as one killer TE. This Kordell Stewart, "I WILL SUCCEED AS A QB" mentality will be the death of super athletic college QB's.

He knows what he wants to do, and he wants to do it well. Nothing wrong with that. Now, I don't know what you chose to smoke today if you think he would make a good Tight End.Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:It's too bad his ego won't allow him to change positions, because he would go down as one killer TE. Arizona did good yes. In fact I think a lot of teams did good this year. I still say Houston did a poor draft, but that is just my opinion. I'll toss in Buffalo as a poor draft as well and Tennessee with a divided one (Young bad, LenDale White a steal). Jets for a change did a good draft and I saw no Jets fan suicide diving off the balconies!
The teams I follow mostly:
Packers:
A.J. Hawk (OLB Ohio State) - Perfect pick. Best defender in the draft imo, plays 3 downs and works sideline to sideline. Very smart player, runs good angles, always around the ball, follows assignments well and is good in coverage. Just what the doctor ordered for the Packers defense.
Daryn Colledge (T Boise State) - Don't know too much about him but the scouting reports are decent. Plays with attitude, works on finishing off opponents and with some coaching should be a good addition for them.
Greg Jennings (WR Western Michigan) - Sharp route runner, great after the catch, good over the middle. Not a huge deep threat though. Highly productive and should be great for Favre.
Abdul Hodge (ILB Iowa) - Hard hitter, stays with assignments, always around the ball and plays fast. Should be an excellent team with Hawk on all 3 downs and a steal at this pick imo.
Jason Spitz (OG) - Know little about him but reports have him as an explosive blocker who always follows assignments and has starter potential.
Packers overall: Seems like a good draft so far. Hawk and Hodge should really have an impact on a horrible defense.
Colts:
Joseph Addai (RB LSU) - Complete back imo. Has more power than Edge did but might not be quite as elusive. Explosive though and takes more than one person to bring down. Has moves to make defenders miss. Also a fairly good ball catcher with good hands. Might be my favourite back in the draft except for Reggie Bush and I really like this pick.
Tim Jennings (CB Georgia) - Very fast but a bit small. Fundamentally good player though and a great cover corner back. Surprising pick imo and not sure if it was what I wanted them to go for here.
Freddie Keiaho (OLB San Diego State) - Disciplined, explosive, runs good angles and is hard to block. Stays with assignments and decent in coverage. Has some tackles broken though.
Colts overal: Love the first pick, the others are OK.
Browns (not a huge fan but hey.. I live there heh):
Kamerion Wimbley (DE Florida State) - Not a surprising pick considering the coach in Cleveland. Solid pick, should fit in well. Not real flashy though but hey, they got Teh Warrior already for that! Plus the Browns defense stank like.. well worse than anything I can come up with. Will be a very productive player and most likely as a linebacker.
D'Qwell Jackson (ILB Maryland) - Nasty player heh. Works sideline to sideline and should bring some attitude to a weak defense. Also decent when he drops in coverage.
Travis Wilson (WR Oklahoma) - With Braylon Edwards returning as the deep threat this should be a good over the middle kind of receiver. Not extremely fast though but can take a pounding without losing the ball. Needs to run routes better, but this late in the draft it is a good pick.
Browns overall: Pretty decent. Not flashy but what they need.

First off the cards stole the show. You have a QB a massive UGG and TE for many years to come. Don't worry Winnow, he'll play guard not tackle and the georgia guy... that he slipped that far is a crime, he is very talented, great blocker and soft hands for such a big motherfucker.
Vince Young.... what happens first... a seperated shoulder or a broken leg... my guess is leg. But White was a great pickup.
9ers got a great couple players in the first, I think Vernon is going to be a force, possibly the best in the game at TE, but I don't like the WR in the 3rd round, too short, sorry, bad pick there.
'boys got a great pick in the 1st that will start but the TE pick is... puzzling, only thing I can come up with is 2 TE sets to protect bledsoe.
Denver..... what... the... fuck
Buffalo did some ugly choices but I think both 1st rounders will end up paying huge dividends to the defense, I am not sold on Lossman but I can see what they were thinking.

A local female's perspective on the Cardinal's picking Matt Leinart:
"He's a good-looking guy. I have to be honest. I think we have one of the best-looking teams, male-wise. We have some hotties here. Neil Rackers is a stud. Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald. They all are. Even Darnell Dockett in his dark sort of way is pretty hot. Bertrand Berry, you just want to hug him. I think we have one of the hottest teams."

Being 'educated' about football is something to be admired? Get a freaking clue.
Hockey isn't a 'white sort' btw. There are other races that play, but it validated my money comment. There isn't nearly as much money in hockey as there is in football, baseball, or basketball. I'm fairly certain that is the true reason why there are very few minorities that play hockey professionally.
Besides, you have to respect people that stay with the same team for more than one or two contract periods, versus these team mercenaries that are prevalent in the 3 sports that I don't care for. I'm not saying all hockey players stay with the same team, but I (being ignorant of the other three sports) can't think of anyone who has stayed with the same team for more than their contract length.

If I didn't know that was bait I'd bother to respond with more then you are simply an ignorant fucktard who thinks the reason minorities (and by that I guesssssss you mean people of color not any one of the other minorities) don't play hockey is that $450,000 isn't OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of money for a minimum salary player. Have you ever played hockey... do you have any idea how prohibitively expensive it is?Aruman wrote:

Sylvus,
The Cardinals took DT, Gabe Wilson (Mich) with their 5th round pick.

Reading the rest of his draft profile, he looks like a beast. Is he some kind of fruity poet type or something? What's up with this guy?Has the size and natural strength of a first rounder, but football isn't a priority in his life.
The Eagles build in the trenches.
#14: Brodrick Bunkley, DT. Never really paid attention to him playing, so I can't say a lot, but he was pretty highly thought of and I like the idea of pairing this dude with Mike Patterson, our first round DT from last year.
#39: Winston Justice, OT: It's exciting to get Justice here, since a lot of people thought we'd take him at 14. We have two talented but aging tackles starting now, and he matches with Shawn Andrews, our first round pick from two years ago, to hopefully solidify the line for years.
#71: Chris Gocong, DE. D-1AA guy who was incredible at that level. Sounds good. We have lots of young, unproven defensive ends, like Jerome McDougle and Jamaal Green (three drafts ago) and he can be thrown into the mix while we look for someone to step up and go alongside Jevon Kearse, who's also getting older.
#99: Max Jean-Gilles, OG. Very productive four-year player for an excellent football program. I'm always in favor of drafting players who prove themselves in college. He's not projecting to the pro bowl or anything, but I would imagine he'll become a productive member of our offensive line rotation.
Others: Jason Avant, Jeremy Bloom, Omar Gaither, LaJuan Ramsey. Don't really know any but Bloom. It'll be nice to have a return man, at least, and if he does a good job he'll become a real fan favorite.
With the exception of Gocong, the Eagles drafted from exclusively big programs: Florida State, USC, Georgia, Michigan, Colorado, Tennessee, USC.

Why can't you have a super athletic quarterback? Young does run out of the pocket a fair amount, but he usually stays in the pocket until he has to leave. I am not saying it was a great pick at 3, the hype probably caused that. Imagine though if he does figure the NFL out, he could be insanely good and has the highest upside of any of the big three QB's. Leinart is the most polished, but Young has incredible potential.I can't believe the Titans took Young. I'm aside myself with how people in these lofty positions of NFL importance make such shitty decisions. I'm sure people will come out to watch the running QB. I'm sure merchandise sales will go up. I also watched the draft and started laughing, thinking about the upcoming season's thread on all things Cardinal that Winnow is probably drafting up now. The Cards had an amazing draft and they are in a crappy division, so things look good for them.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon
Avant could end up being a very good pick, especially that late imo. I was kind of expecting him to go a bit earlier.Sueven wrote: Others: Jason Avant, Jeremy Bloom, Omar Gaither, LaJuan Ramsey. As for Young.. the problem with Young is not that he is athletic. The problem is that at Texas he never used progression. He never checked off. When the play was called he had one receiver to go to and that was it. That will simply NOT work in the NFL. If he learns to check off and progress through options he can be an incredible QB. If he fixes his release that is.
That is a lot of "if's" for a 3rd pick overall. Especially when you have no real QB to start the season with.
I think it's false to say he never read his progression at Texas, I'll admit that when he came in he would zero in on a receiver and if it was open he would throw it if it was not he would run. You saw it in the Oklahoma game two years ago, but during that season he matured.Kelshara wrote:Avant could end up being a very good pick, especially that late imo. If he couldn't read his progression I doubt a coach like Pete Carroll would have had a problem scheming him out of the game in the Rose Bowl. You also rarely win so many games coming from behind if you don't read your progression and take what they give you. The touchdown pass to Sweed against OSU was a good example of that, but there were a lot more starting his sophomore year.
He does have to work on his release, but its deal breaker, think of how Bernie Kosar threw or how David Carr throws right now.
Having said that we'll have to see how well the Titans develop him, at first I was sorry to see him go there I mean they pretty much been dismantling their team since they got to the Super Bowl. However, after thinking about it for a while I realized that they did a very good job in bringing McNair along slowly and really doing a good job in developing him. If they can do the same for Young then I think he will do well for them.
Oh and as far as running QBs they have always been around, think back to Roger Staubach, Archie Manning or Fran Tarkenton. In more recent times you can think of guys like Doug Williams, Mark Brunnel (younger years) or Steve Young. It's really a matter of how teams develop and use the players so we'll see.

Before the draft I was hoping that the Packers would get Vernon Davis but just before the pick I saw the interview with Henderson (FB) from the Packers. He said that they already have 3 great TE's in Franks, Martin, and Lee and that what they really need is a LB to replace Diggs and Lenon who left in the off season. I could totally see his point. I am now happy we took Hawk.
I also like that we went from 7 picks initially to 12 due to trades and such. Goodbye Walker, I wish you the best of luck. I only wish we played Denver this year so Woodson can shut yer ass down.

I liked what the Packers did this year in the draft. They have so many bad years that it was nice to see them actually drafting for needs. Hawke was a needed pick and I hope he lives up to the hype. I only wish Denver hadn't been the one to get stuck with Walker. He is overhyped and above average at best. Favre can make anyone look good (Schroeder, Brooks, Freeman etc.). Turning 7 picks into 12 picks is a damn nice job if any of them work out.
I liek that Denver got Cutler. He will have a year or two to grow behind Plummer. Aside from last year, Plummer really kind of stunk it up as a QB the last few years. I hope the competition keeps his playing level up.
I was really impressed with Philly's top two picks. Getting Bunkley and Justice is a coup in my opinion. Both were highly rated and I really thought Justice would go in the first half of round 1.
Leinart in Arizona is a great spot for him. Warner will start the first half of the season while Leinart watches and learns. They really have the makings of a great offense there. Unfortunately their defense really still sucks ass. Green did the same thing in Minnesota.

I'm not positive exactly what it was, but there were a few games he hardly even played in last year. I had heard it was some sort of motivation problem, not like drugs or committing crimes or anything. He's a stud when he plays his A game, if Denny Green can keep him motivated I think you just got a pretty good pick pretty cheap.Winnow wrote:Sylvus,

I definitely thought he would be like 2nd or 3rd round, I think it was a problem of Michigan having their worst season in my adult life. Avant has some pretty good hands, I remember him making the plays of the week on Sportscenter a couple times, most notably a pretty sick one-handed catch at Northwestern in '03. If you're lucky you just got a Braylon Edwards and not a David Terrell.Kelshara wrote:Avant could end up being a very good pick, especially that late imo. This is the worst draft for Michigan players that I've ever seen. All of you who got Wolverines that you're not familiar with in the late rounds, just remember how the future best QB in NFL history came out of Michigan and was drafted in the 6th round... we're overachievers!

I'm praying the over-drafting of TEs results in a trade with the Bengals. We desperately need a receiving TE. And Graham would fit in perfectly with Carson. Im not sure if the Pats are thin at Wide Receiver, but the Benglas just signed Kelley Washington to a one year deal (reportedly to make it easier to trade him.)New England just took another Tight End. I'm looking forward to checking out the brand new stadium this year. The Cardinals have 60K season tickets sold already which is amazing for this franchise. We might have a sell out or two! (have never had a sellout besides the once or twice that companies bought the remaining tickets for a Dallas MNF game in 1989.
Barring injuries, things look promising for the Cardinals perform like they were projected to last year and compete for the division title.

I find this story amazing. The Cardinals have had every home game blacked out except for one of two over the past 15 years and now they've sold out their season tickets and you have to be on the season ticket waiting list to buy single tickets. According to this article, there will only be 1,000 tickets available to purchase for each game. It's amazing that we're going to see every home game on TV this year. Equally amazing is that a ticket to a Cardinal game is going to be as hard to come by as Xbox 360's were back in November-February.
Cardinals reach sell out
For the first time in years, all home games will appear live on local TV

There's a waiting list for Cardinals season tickets - finally. The team announced Thursday that it has sold out its season tickets and is now accepting deposits to be placed on a waiting list. And, for the first time in years, Cardinals home games will appear live on local television.
The Cardinals sold at least 4,500 tickets since last weekend's draft, when they selected Southern California quarterback Matt Leinart with the 10th overall pick. Sales were brisk even before that, driven by the excitement over Cardinals Stadium, set to open in August, the team's off-season moves and the chance to enter a lottery for tickets to the Super Bowl in 2008.
The team has declined to reveal sales figures, but it is believed to have sold 55,000 to 58,000 season tickets. That could make it the best-selling season since the Cardinals moved to the Valley. In 1988, their first season in Arizona, they sold about 55,000 season tickets.
Thursday's announcement has several ramifications. First, it should mean that all eight of this year's regular-season home games will be sold out and broadcast locally, something Valley Cardinals fans have never experienced.
The Cardinals haven't had a home sellout since the Green Bay Packers in 2000 at Sun Devil Stadium. NFL rules require that game be sold out 72 hours before game time for local affiliates to be able to televise the game.
The televised home games will not take the place of other network games. When a Cardinals game is blacked out, the Valley does not receive a substitute game.
The news isn't rosy for those wanting single-game tickets. The Cardinals' new policy also makes it difficult to obtain individual game tickets without joining the season-ticket waiting list.
Individuals can join the waiting list by paying a deposit of $200 per ticket with a limit of eight tickets. That deposit is non-refundable, and the money will be applied to the future purchase of season tickets.
The Cardinals have set aside at least 3,000 tickets for individual game sales at the 63,400-seat stadium. People on the waiting list will be given the first opportunity to purchase them.
Those sales start immediately and run through the end of the month.
Fans can buy individual tickets equal to the number of seats they have on deposit. For instance, a fan who wants to be on the waiting list for two seats must pay a $400 deposit. Then, he or she has the opportunity to buy two tickets to an individual game.
The Cardinals created the waiting list in part to make it more difficult for scalpers and fans of other teams to buy tickets, a team spokesman said.
"What we're trying to do is make sure tickets wind up in the hands of Cardinals fans, rather than in the hands of ticket brokers or opposing fans," said Mark Dalton, director of media relations. "If you're a broker, you are less likely to put $800 down for the right to buy four tickets to the opener."
Cardinals fans Thursday night were thrilled to learn about the season-ticket sales.
"It's great for the city," said J.B. McCutcheon, 47, of north Phoenix. "You've got to be a die-hard fan. People in Chicago care about their teams. We've got to care about our teams, too."
"What they are selling now is the stadium," said Ray Aranda, 46, a Phoenix bus driver who lives in Laveen. "So people are getting on the bandwagon."
The sales are a remarkable turnaround for the Cardinals, whose home games at Sun Devil Stadium often drew as many opposing fans as Cardinals fans. Just a few years ago, the Cardinals were so desperate to sell tickets that they marketed seats to out-of-town fans through the ticket departments of opposing teams.
Although the deposits may assure the team of pro-Cardinals fans, there could be another motivation. It could protect the team if sales drop off after the 2008 Super Bowl at Cardinals Stadium.
A person on a waiting list with $400 deposited probably would decide to buy tickets rather than forfeit the money.
If you're not on the waiting list, it won't be easy to buy single-game tickets. About 2,000 individual seats for each game will be available to those on the waiting list. At least 1,000 seats for each game will go on sale to all others at an undetermined date in June, the team said in a news release.
There is no universal policy regarding waiting lists for season tickets in the NFL. Some teams, such as Denver and Green Bay, don't charge anything to be placed on the list. Others charge a fee.
The Cardinals have been last in the NFL in attendance the past several years. When the team's season-ticket total started to plunge a few years ago, the Cardinals stopped announcing the figure.
