Cox Cable

Post by Kudo »

For those of you using Cox Cable as ISP.

many people have been getting disconnected while on EverQuest but no disconnects on anything else.

There was 2 General Chats in the Chat room on EQlive full of people using Cox Internet being disconnected all day long.

Cox ISP is overloaded with people i geuss.

I heard that Cox is blocking many of the popular virus used ports (1900 for example).

Each zone when it boots up picks a port that it runs on. Every zone in every server is on a different port, and the ports move around with every patch.

So what happens when DL happens to pick port 1900 when it comes up from a patch?

Anyone on Cox cannot log into Veeshan's DL since 1900 is blocked.

They can petition to be moved out and will have to avoid it until the next patch.

I was disconnected 3 times in about 20 minutes last night. A friend grouped with me using Cox was disconnedted at exactly the same time I was. It had nothing to do with zoning though.

I couldn't access the web on my other computer for a few seconds as well so I'm not sure it's only EQ thats being affected.

Tonight I will download massive amounts of pr0n stricktly as an experiment to see if my FTP d/l is interrupted at the same time I'm disconnected from EQ. I h8 these experiments!
