Need a music critique please.

I have no emotional attachment to this music, so feel free to flame/praise freely.

It is a Japanese song, but the lyrics are hardly important. It's the strong bass beat, and the sound of the vocals that make it.

(P.S. New music for you to check out: <a target="_blank" href="http://www.searyx.com/Berserk%20-%20Forces.wav">Berserk - Forces</a>, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.searyx.com/Berserk%20-%20Gatsu.wav">Berserk - Gatsu</a>

The intro was too garbled, not crisp enough, and the snare throughout the song is like nails down a chalkboard.

It's interesting.
The drums remind me of a super simple watered down version of kodo drumming used in place of a generic techno beat. The tambourine, i think it is, that echoes the bass beats in every instance is rather annoying. I guess because it completely destroys any possible syncopation that may have occured with the drums.
I'm not very fond of the electronic melodic instrument either. Though the melody is nice, the instrument that delivers it sounds like a broken 99cent keyboard that's on perma-reverb.
The vocals are nice. As the song continues they increase in layers, and those layers blend beautifully. Layering can, and normally does, stick out like a sore thumb, such as when you start electronically altering vocals into octaves below the natural range of the voice. But they all blend very fluidly. None stick out more than the other, you can hear them all, and focus on none, which is quite nice.
I wouldn't say I like the song as a whole, but there are pieces and parts of it that are definately interesting, and maybe likeable.

edit, punctuation and format. EASIER TO READ FOR YOUR FUCKING PLEASURE. 8)

The song wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the reverb blurring the tempo so badly, and frequency/volume level of the tambourine. The synth melody is kind of catchy and compliment the vocals nicely, but it's so fucking blurry I can't tell if there are backup singers or it's the same guy during what I assume is the chorus.

I went out and bought the soundtrack for the series which I got the song from. The original version is shorter, with a much less prominent bass line. I also found the actual name of the song is "Forces". I have it hosted here for your reviews. I was rather impressed with how specific some of you were in your criticisms. Would like to see more of that.

I also am hosting another song from the same soundtrack. It's mostly piano work, mixed with high female and/or male chorus. It's one of my favorites (from an anime series at least). Wonder what you all think.
