I know it really has no relevance.. now that i think its a safe bet to say most of the posters on VV have TOV + armor.
Anyway, when you were a newb, and yes, you ALL were, do you remeber getting something and thinking it was awesome? I used to think crag chicks dropped bronze. Anyway, i think the item i was most proud of when i was level 5, was my ring mail shirt.
So, what was something you remeber thinking was so awesome? Think it'd be interesting to see. Since i was reading about someone 'trying' to flame aranuil for asking newb questions.
Chitin shell sheild. Blackend iron helmet is up there too but not as obvious when equipped. And who can forget the sacrifices made for the legendary PGT
I remember seeing this troll decked out in an Enameled Black Chestplate, FBSS, dual Yaks, mithril arms and legs. I was like "OMG!" every time the Yaks proced on the FP guards. The skull animation and knockback just impressed the shit outta my level 8 ass.
Gatorsmash Maul!! I could swear one day I heard a "gator attacking" sound in NFP and I swore it came an Ogre with the G-Maul. hahaha
Barbarian Spiritualist's Hammer was also once the pinnacle of uberness. A GOD DROPPED Barbarian Shaman ONLY item! I finally took a surname of "Icehammer" when I saw that thing.
I got one later, I had my epic and a JBB, so the allure was gone.
I lost track of what happened to the "hammah!". I probably gave it to a newbie shaman or sold it to one of the many people who assume for some reason I'm a walking K-Mart of droppable Shaman gear/spells.
I spent 2 days in crushbone at like level 14 questing for screaming mace. That was some powerful shit. Man proc'ing that thing while kicking orc ass with my cleric was godly.
also omg omg rogues dual weilding serrated bone dirks and dying every time one proc'd. so uber.
Since I was a paladin at the start I would have to say, Soulfire then FD was it, and one day I will log on the paladin and get a red dragon book and have FD heh.

Chipped Bone Bracers.... Mawafu helped me get them waaaay back when. I felt SO uber!
Oh, and the first time I got a bag full of fine steel weapons from a friend who was incredibly UBER!!... he told me to sell them for PP and I got like 90PP from it. I felt rich!!
Diae Soulmender wrote:I use to think I was soooo uber when I had Red Dragonscale BP, Full Thorny Vine Armor, Scimitar of the Mistwalker and Flux Bladed Axe/Revultant Whip.
Man, them were the days...
hehe you were =)
and topper, that is sad
oh yeah another one, i was grouped w/ some FoH in karnors and one of their ogre wars (long retired i think) had a Bladestorm. By the time i had ever been on raids taking out CT, that was long gone on his loot table.
my first real main was my druid tibbil, around velious time when i finally started getting around, and i saw a druid in full kael + epic i feel in love
Blackened Iron Boots! I paid 100pp for them, which was basically every cent I had (and it seemed sooo expensive at the time) just so I could kick stuff you need a magic weapon to hit.
When my ranger was in her 40s, I really wanted an Electrum-bladed Wakizashi. I camped that stupid maid and butler in Mistmoore for days but only ever got one fang for it.

Crushbone reminds me of the inevitable trains and graveyards at the zone line whenever someone aggro'd Ambassador Dvinn and couldn't handle him. Half the time it seems like there'd be a train on the BB side too, you'd end up zoning back and forth as fast as possible and praying that some "high" level hero would run over from Kelethin and take care of business.
Uber to me for the longest time was Journeyman's Boots, back when they were in Najena. Nothing like reading horror stories of people camped there for days on end, sometimes marathon camps just to get to the front of the line.
omg I forgot about the executioner's axe. I remember one day in SK a guy gave me one to do a transfer for him....it took every moral bone in my body to not log out with it. He was so thankful that I didn't log out with it.
I was one of those druids who camped out in Dagnor's Cauldron before a patch so I could spam rejoin for a shot at Bilge Farfathom before anyone else. I spent entire days at a time running around that fucking zone killing hundreds of goblins and training them to the fabulous four, and I only saw his ass once... and he dropped a reed belt (which was still amazing, only druid usable wis belt in game aside from dweamorvine garland from fear).
I remember when I finished my Paw of Opolla and finally bought a PKT... dual weilding dolls. I sat on cool guy hill in nfp for like a week straight.

I ks'd Dsmith's Bilge and looted a pearl kedge totem after he had been camping it for like 3 weeks straight. It was like the crowning moment of my EQ career.
Nothing could beat camping the Bone Bladed Claymore in Befallen for 18 hours. I doubt anyone even knows what wep I am talking about as not even a newbie would use that wep now.

Much H8 for the BBC camp.

Definitely the first time I saw a Soulfire (some lvl 50 pally was slumming in Crushbone). The combined uberness of his flaming weap, and the fact that he could kill anything in the zone.
After that I'd second seeing any cleric in full Hate armor.
I personally achieved ooberness when I camped HighHold and the PGT dropped for me.
Five trouts in a trout box! - Wonko

Think waaaaay back. A full set of banded armor was the shit...and 40PP to get it was a fortune and a half.
Later but still in the early days of EQ, I would run to Freeport, buy 6 banded BPs off my dealer and then run back to Halas/Qeynos area and sell them for a profit. I'd make 10P each!
Strifei (Raganork) left because of work/job constraints, I believe. Awesome guy though. He was the one who actually invited Murr into the guild (long story for those of you who don't know it, but I came back to Veeshan from Vallon Zek and leveled up Murr while I played Tatanka and a few other wiz on VP/trak raids and such).
As far as items go, probably the Glowing Black Stone. That and the elusive carmine robe I never attained on Vallon Zek (the combo of leet stats and NO DROP tag on an item loot server made it VERY attractive). By the time I was playing Murr I was for the most part past my "wow" phase, although getting my RB owned after 3 weeks of straight questing (I was one of the lucky ones who did the quest when Yendar Starfinder was IMPOSSIBLE to find, camped Steamfont for 2 weeks..they changed it to make him triggerable the day after I got my RB, not kidding).
Oh, and Jboots for sure. And Primal.
