New Animations

Post by Dregor Thule »

Somewhere out there children are crying. No wait, that's the sounds of my own sobbing. What happened? The Froglok animations were great. Did that guy not get assigned the task of cleaning up the gaping anus that was Luclin model animations? Did he get promoted so that they could once again boast having a full team of no-talent assclown animators? Or was it the same guy except he let the success go to his head and started a downward spiral of hard drinks and hard drugs, the results of which have now been patched onto our computers?

Fuck I'm pissed off. 2 Years of looking at poor excuses for animations, then to have the possibility of something good taking their place dangled in front of my face only to have it yanked away, then shat on, tossed onto a George Foreman Grill, then served to me on a sesame seed bun is just too much.

I'm sorry if the person responsible for this travesty actually reads this and I hurt their feelings, but you need to be told. GET A NEW JOB. Seriously, if you do read this, somehow, and want to know what exactly is wrong with these animations, I'd be more than happy to go over it frame by frame, just drop me a PM.

Someone on another board likened the new runs to a blind chimpanzee with parkinsons was used to motion capture the animations. I laughed then... :~(

And this one of many reasons I play with all Luclin models off.

Since Luclin release I have only used Old Models. I turned on new models I think for about an hour, seen how truely horrid they were and immidiately went back to old models and havent looked back since.

Currently I only use new Vah Shir male/female models.

I am awaiting the release of 'real' models/animations.

You guys must be smoking crack or something.

The new models are awesome. They, unfortunately, eat up a ton of memory. Which makes me only use the ones I change into...Barb, Iksar, Erudite, Halfling, Half-elf, DE.

Besides the fact that the Elf models look like the have a stick shoved up their ass, the rest of the models rock!

the models are better.

the animations are worse.

when they came out i would 2 box w/ one computer that really had to run the old animations. I could watch the same player doing the same things in both, and there is no comparison.

that being said, i run w/ all new models, because the old ones look like shit. you must love scratching your ass sarge :p

I prefer the new models. Trolls look worse, yes, but Ykesha showed us that even with the new model trolls CAN look ok. I keep the new models on all the time. Now, I'm questioning it...

Yes I did love scratching my own ass! And since I play with old models... I still do! Not as often as I used to though. :(

Holy SHIT. The new run and walk animations are HORRENDOUS. I've never seen worse animation 3d characters.

Ogres now walk like they dropped a load in their drawers. The run looks like that picture of the retarded kid running at the special olympics, with arms out at his sides and upward.

The thing I love the most about the new models is how they ruined Iksar models. Now not only do we look like giant turtles (PUKE, if I WANTED to be Lodi I wouldn't be playing the "good guys"), also the Iksar got bigger, so now it's not possible to walk through hallways in midget town (Thurgadin. Yes I know it's not the most used city anymore, but it was when I started using the models, just so I could use my damn horsie). Also using 2hb makes this game seem like a joke. My favorite foodprocessor Shovel of the Harvest is always in the bag, and for old times sake I pull it out once in a while to see if my shovel still has the same punch as it used to, only to see the damn Iksar using it with 1 hand?... What's the catch? That I can use another 2hb in the other hand? Are SoE retarded?....

Sorry had to get that off my chest since it's been getting to me since the models came out. :)=

Old models except for horses, vah shir(because there are no armor textures for the low poly version) and trolls. I think my running is interesting, very animated. Maybe I leap and bound a tad too much but it's not bad imo. They really need to address 2hb though. I'm really tired of poking mobs w/ my trunch

The runs are technically bad. They're uneven, creating limps, arms not moving, heads moving too much or too little, twists in the torso all wrong. You'll have one arm swining further than the other, making it seem off balance. Look at the new male elf run animation. They bend their arms, hold their hands up close to their chest, and keep them there as they run. Who the hell runs like that?

I haven't had a chance to check out all the animations up close, but seen them all to some degree from a distance at least. The troll one looks fitting for them, but I'm sure if I examined them closer I'd see some basic animation errors. Iksar males look like they share the same motion paths as the ogre males... ya, that makes sense!

We apologize for this second download today, however, incorrect versions of these animation files were sent in the transition between test and live.

We hope to have this matter straightened out in the next couple days, and will likely tweak a couple animations due to the community's reaction while we're at it.

Once you've finished downloading, everything should be as it was before today with the exception of Dwarven Males and Gnomish Females. Those will not automatically revert if you updated EverQuest earlier today.

If you wish to revert those characters by hand, please delete the following two files from your EverQuest directory:

GLOBALDWM_CHR2.s3d
GLOBALGNF_CHR2.s3d

Agree luclin models suck

Down with luclin models, Up with Velious textures.

Hire back the person who did the Old Iksar Model for Kunark.

The Iksar new luclin models look like a Ninja Turtle on Roids....

I feel bad for all those who never seen there toon pre-dyes with Velious textures old models on.

So to recap:

old models: :)
old iksar models: :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
new luclin models: :vv_bj3:
