16-bit Emulators

Post by Neziroth »

Anyone know any good ROM databases? Preferably for SNES games. Nothing beats loading up the old favorites.

I know Emurater used to be great but that's gone now... :(

Database to verify what you have or a place to download ROMs? If you want ROMs the web sucks unless you like ads and crap. Stick with Usenet.

If you want to verify what you have look for Good Tools.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The best database for roms is http://www.edgeemu.com
They have damn near every rom... In different versions. They also have some translations of otherwise japanese only roms. They are god. If you look for emulator, go to Xophar's domain.

Well I'm not sure how it was wrong, really, but OK! If you're looking for a ROM or two a web page is probably good. If you want to get complete sets you can't beat Usenet. Tag 2500 and go to bed.

Edge Emulation didn't look that special to me. I'll stick with my original suggestion.

/Shrug Maybe it didn't look special to you, but it has no pop ups, and you can find just about any roms in it. As for usenet, it's nice, but it will take much more time to find the rom you need... as opposed to Edge emu. And not everyone wants to get compilation of roms.

If you can find a working link nowadays, there is a complete Snes ROM pack containing every rom ever created for the Snes (Japanese, Europe, US, etc.) on BitTorrent.

It weighs in at a hefty 4+ gigs, so be warned. There are also complete sets for nes, game boy advance, sega master system, and sega genesis I believe. I’m still waiting on the M.A.M.E. one myself. :)

alt.binaries.emulators.mame. Complete sets are posted at least once every two weeks. And always after a new release. Think it's about 5.5gb now. Maybe 6.

Usenet, people! Hmm nevermind. Maybe it's better not a lot of people know.

I can go with that. If you just want a few that's probably the way to go. I'm a bit of a completist though so I need to get them all.
