i know, i know...no one cares or basketball isn't a real sport, or something like that.

anyways my prediction still stands...Nets will win the championship in 7 games...they will beat the spurs.

At the begining of the playoffs I would have called you insane if you had predicted that anyone from the east would be able to beat the best team from the west in the finals, but I'm not too sure anymore. The nets have really impressed be during the playoffs and I really think they have a chance against the spurs now.

I'm still going to make the prediction that the spurs win the finals, but now I think the series should atleast be interesting.

Oh yes. NJ walked all over a team with an anemic offense whom almost got wiped out in the first round by basically a one man team.

The Spurs very convincingly beat a 3-time defending champion team with 2 perrenial All NBA first teamers. Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin are NJ's top guns? So solly, but that ain't gonna cut it. Tim Duncan is going to show why he is the league MVP for the second straight year as he easily walks away with his 2nd ring.

pfft, I said all along Devils would make the finals. =P If they can beat Giguiere is another question. I think I'll hope they can though, so the Wings can finally be avenged!

This always bothered me for multiple reasons. Mainly that people who say it is easy/doesn't require effort haven't tried playing it. I don't mean the "screwing around in a driveway", but really playing. Then there are the people that say it is a non-contact sport...I wish this had been true throughout my "career." I had a broken arm, hand, leg, nose (x2), and a couple concussions (played 4 & 5 positions). yeah yeah, I should have been more careful, but when you actually play because you love the sport...well, you take unnecessary risks at times.

As for the playoffs, I have been really torn on the Mavs and Spurs. I like them both too much, and I will root for them in the Finals. I have rooted for the Nets in the East since the start of the playoffs though. This year may be one of the better Finals in recent NBA seasons. While I don't think the Mavs had it in the bag at the start of the Western Finals, losing Bradley (no biggie) and Novitski....that doomed them against the Spurs. Sure they can keep up to an extent, but they have nothing on the inside other than "zerging" Tim Duncan which won't work for long. Some say that the games have been too close for the Spurs to win it all, but they also seem to forget that the Spurs play at their own pace. As long as they can stay with their game plan, they win.

I pick the Spurs in the West obviously, and I won't even BEGIN to guess on the Finals. They could go either way since the Nets at least have SOME inside game.

NBA ruined basketball. NCAA b-ball is still fun to watch, because the players actually play for something. But since NBA is the figurehead of basketball, it gives the sport the rep its no known for.

Pretty much.
Some of these kids are multi-millionaires before they ever play a game in the NBA.

Too many NBA players are in the news for the wrong reasons... Assault and weapon charges.... Rape and murder allegations.... Drug offenses.
And the behaviour of some of these guys on the court is nothing short of embarrasing.

It wouldn't be so bad if these incidents were few and far between but the frequency is increasing at an alarming rate.

I prefer NCAA over NBA as well. But the NCAA is just as corrupt and filled with just as many bad apples as the NBA. For every NBA bad incident you can find an NCAA incident. Michigans Fab Five is an example. Jim Harrick buying grades for a recruit. Cincinnati players have a history of criminal behavior. St Bonaventure quitting midway thru the season last year.

The NCAA is a mess. So is the NBA. But the NCAA game atmosphere is 10 times better than the pros. And the game is played much better at the college level. Defense is actually stressed and applauded in college, unlike in the Pros. Detroit is a great defensive club. Instead of being recognized for that theyre criticized for having a poor offense. And March Madness is the best format for deciding a champion in all of sports.

Anyway. Go NETS. K-Mart and Kidd!!

As for the Hockey finals.... well, I cant wait for ESPNs contract with the NHL to expire so the street brawling iceskaters can fade away to nothing.

blame the media...OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of the things that happen to NBA players if it happened to you or me would not be headlines, or even in the back page of the newspaper. let me demonstrate:

Magic Johnson gets HIV and makes headlines.

Jordan cheats on his wife - headlines.

i forget his name, but there was an NBA dude that tested positive for marijuana - headlines.

salaries - it's no ones business how much they make.

Hey, did you know that there's some anti-war liberals out there!?1! Welcome to like....10+ years ago.

Tons of players smoke teh weed. Chris Webber was one of the more notable public cases. Robert Parish and Jason Williams (the white trash hick one) were a coupe of others.

As far as NBA players, they could do a lot by kicking Ron Artest out of the league. That guy is a fucking asshole.

*warning* i am a well known idiot, read with caution...

if all you said was jason williams the majority of sports fans would still know who you were talking about, because the other williams spells his first name with a y, Jayson. proving once again you don't always have to use race when describing someone. :)

how would i describe Jayson Williams? retired NJ Nets center accused of murder.

Keeping in theme with the Spurs' favorite number 6. My guess will be 6 games for them to close it out.

The other part to consider is that many people don't read the print media anymore, and the only part of his name they would generally see on the back of his jersey "Williams"

I don't think the reference was uncalled for in that situation.

There are(were) at least 3 or 4 Ja(y)son Williams that play(ed) in the NBA.

The murderer.
The white trash pothead.
The guy who came from duke 2 or 3 years ago, though he goes by Jay Williams now.

I'm pretty sure there was another one in the last 10 years in the league.
