They did these because of the intimidation factor. But I agree with you Pherr I think they should be put on the ballot. If I were a betting man i would bet they would not be re-elected.

The de-Baathification will entail some inefficiencies in the running of the government. That's the price we're willing to pay in order to extirpate Baathism from Iraqi society

Aren't they also preventing nutso clerics from running? Intimidation seems to be SOP for Mid-East "elections."

It's liberty and democracy where you get to vote on your choice of US approved candidates and political parties.

Yea I think I am fealin Kyou. How can we tell the people of Iraq who they can and cannot vote for, unless we are conquering them?
