I've heard of Slipknot but never heard their music... I've never heard of Mushroomhead.

Are these bands popular?

Ahhh, just checked out the mushroomhead site.
They are one of those gimmick/mask band as well, huh?

Yeah, that's the one.

They were fun for a little while but the life expectancy of most gimmick bands popularity is low.

Found a few samples of some Slipknot tracks and eventhough it's not my style, it's not half bad. They should probably lose the gimmick. Their music could stand on it's own merit.

i think Gwar still makes music...they're not the kind of band that will only survive if they have a hit or go platinum...there fans will keep them making music and i think they still have those too.

I see Gwar listed as playing at a couple of the bars/clubs here in Austin once in a while. I had the chance to watch them while working as a techie at one club several years back, and it was fun more than anything else.

I got a chance to spend a few hours on their tourbus a 6 or so years ago after helping break down their equip after a gig. Interesting people, that is for damn sure. 22 of them including their "slaves"--all basically living on the bus that has an I <3 GWAR license plate. :)

Also, they are fond of Sam Adams, Meth, and Prozac. :P I think I still have a tshirt stained in fake blood with a pen drawing of a penis and signed "Love Oderus" on it. I don't remember asking for an autograph, but it is pretty damn funny :)

Slipknot hands down.. Miir Corey Taylor (Lead singer of Slipknot) has a side project called Stone Sour. Check them out too.

Doubt I'll take you up on that suggestion.
While they are pretty interesting musically, I don't care for the lyrics and vocals. I'm not into the aggresive, violent angst thing. I prefer my music a little more understated.

speaking of being able to understand the lyrics...

I actually picked up the new Marilyn Manson CD since it was only something like 8.99. It's actually much better than most of his earlier music. From what I understand, he actually wrote most of this album which he hasn't done before by himself. Most of the songs are slower, and not as "filled with noise" as previous albums.

Xzion - 9 members :)
Yea, Stonesour is pretty good too. Most people have probably only heard "Bother" and think they're like the Wallflowers or something, but actually Stonesour is a li'l harder than Slipknot I would say.
