Game Help

Post by Bubba Grizz »

I know that a lot of us on the boards here have jobs where they can basically play games of various sorts. What I need help with is finding some good pc games that I can play at work safely. That means I need to be able to alt-tab out of it at a moments notice, play it without sound, and is something that doesn't require me to pay attention or force me to stay at the computer. What I have been playing lately is Civilization 3 and that works great but it is getting a bit old (at least until the expansion comes out).

Heh, I'm got a game of Nethack I've been working at on and off for about 5 years :P

The Amulet of Yendor still eludes me...

Age of Empires is pretty cool and can be paused. The teamplay is pretty good too.

I have AOE but I don't think that you can Alt-Tab out of it without killing the game. I still need to use my computer for actual work once in a while. Also, it wouldn't do to have people come into my office looking for help and find me playing a game. Not like they don't do it themselves but you know how it goes.

That was one of them, Vorn. There was also "plover" I believe. And one other that escapes me atm. Of course, killing the dragon with my bare hands was a highlight too.

StarCraft is a good one, but I usually stick to simple Flash games in the Internet.

I just tried to install Magic: The Gathering ( you know those 2 games that came out a while ago ) well it won't let me install because I am not running Windows 95. Anyone have any idea on how to fix that? I am on Win2k Pro at work. I supposed I could scrounge up a 95 cd and build a computer out of spare parts here but I don't think the game is worth going through that much effort.

or you could run Windows 95 in a virtual machine.

or make your current machine multi-boot.

Neverwinter Nights can be run in a window with a modification in the config ini file. It is a supported function.

Then there is always http://www.zone.com; some decent addictive games there.

There are always the casino websites too.

Most of the old Sierra adventures are also playable in a window. Some oldies but goodies.
