Decimator Vs Striker Vs Rocket Rifle

Post by Akaran_D »

Thinking about dropping my SpecAss cert for AV.
I'd like to know how the striker compares vs Decimator first tho.. noticed it took more than 6 decimator shells to take out a vanguard this afternoon, and for teh size of it, I think that's overrated.. put a round right into the center of some puke (infantry, no less) last night and it barley made him bounce.. I am dis-satisifed.

What are your personal experiences?

Just want somthing that is going to allow me to face off / hurt some vehicles when I get rushed (seems to happen early morning before I see many of us online.. just this morning I got nailed with a force of 2, 3 vanguards, several mosquitoes, many harassers, ect.).

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Striker is less powerful than Decimator; both are more powerful than a single rocklet.

Striker has visual lock/tracking ability; Decimator is dumbfire.
You can carry more ammo for the Striker than you can carry decimators.

Not sure on reload times.

I had Striker, but dropped it for SA because it has the AoE thumper/rocklet. Useful for abusing large numbers of the enemy. That's just personal preference, tho.

striker has severe locking issues. Basically any object between you and your target will interrupt any lock. Which means that against ground targets you basically have to get within 10 feet of the target to avoid all of the trees/rocks/players/blown up shit/hills.. and anything that requires a striker to kill will not let you stay alive for very long if you are 10 feet from it.

on the other hand, the striker has a nice exploit where you can fire all of your rockets (or 1, whatever) into the air and then acquire a lock. The rocket speeds dont relate to the Z axis, so even if they are 10 thousand feet into the air but only an inch from the target relating to x-y, they will come crashing down at light speed onto the targets head, and you only have to hold lock for a half second. The disadvantage of course is that half the time shit has either been killed or moved to safety by the time you get your volley into the air.. and then you just wasted it all :o

and this is handy info:
Mosquito - 3 shots
Reaver - 5 shots
Max - 4 shots (add one for NC with shield)

my advice.. if youre going to get yourself an anti armor weapon.. get a real one.. fuck the rocklet shit. Pick up a decimator if you intend to take out maxes and ground vehicles.. but striker owns the sky.

I was dissatisfied with the striker for many of the reasons adela stated. The main one being lock issues.

I absolutely love the deci for ground targets. 2 shots usually kills a Max for me. Previously, I'd run away pounding VWM (incoming enemy max! emote). Now?... I still run away, but usually around a corner where I can make them eat a surprise decimator round, followed by the killshot. It's vary satisfying.

I use the striker religiously, its a decent weapon. Indoor vs maxs you can usually get 4 shots off before a max turns you into chow, Outdoor it can be great if you have no junk in your way as adela stated. Overall better than a decimator because you can hold 12 shots worth(more if you dont buy other things) which means 3 dead maxs if used properly and no one in the right mind can carry 3 decimators.

I dont know whats the dilly vs VEHICLES tho, takes like some 20 odd strikers to kill an AMS, but mabye the AMS's i shoot at get repaired.

Another aspect is spitfires and landmines, takes both out in 1 rocket and because you can usually spare a rocket or two makes a great anti engy weap. Overall its just a great weapon, but id rather have a lancer.
