I see Americans are not the only ones guilty of killing people for oil.

The possible involvment of Talisman in the Sudanese civil war has also led our federal government to debate (yeah no legisaltion but its a start) the actions and obligations of Canadian companies abroad and the government's responsibilty to regulate them. There was talk of introducing a foreign ethics standard for companies to abide by but I am not sure where this went. On the other hand, I guess the Canadian government could be like the US government in the past and just not give a fuck how many people our leading corporations kill *cough* Union Carbide in Bhopal, India*cough*.

FYI Talisman has also publicly stated an intention to sell their Sudanese holdings due to public outcry against any possible involvement (I believe the last I heard it was in the process of being sold to a consortium of French and Indian companies, but that was a while ago and may have fallen through).
