Neon Genesis Evangelion - The Second Angel/w Subtitles

Post by Searyx »

This marks my first attempt at adding subtitles into a Divx film clip. Questions and comments regarding the subtitles would be appreciated.

Even if you're not an anime fan, I suggest you download this anyway. It might change your mind about the medium.

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.strike9.com/file.aspx/path=/ ... avi">Right Click Here</a> and select "Save Target As..." to download Evangelion.avi

Statistics: 5min, 47sec long | 10.7mb in size | Encoded with DivxPro 5.02 at 195kb per sec, 2-pass | Audio Encoded with MPEG-3 Layer at 48khz, 48kbits, Mono | SSA subtitles |

If you're getting audio, without the video, then you're too fuckin' stupid to be watching these :)

hey searyx, not related to this thread but you seem like you know a bit about codecs and shit...or at least i'm assuming

i have eps 1-64 of Dragonball GT in avi format...i have the right video codec cause i'm definately getting video...however, i cannot seem to get audio functioning...any ideas on what may be the problem and what may be the fix?

also have the Goku Jr. special movie...the one that takes place 100 years after GT ends...well anyways, the video is in great condition, and they appear to kick ass, i just need the audio working...and no, i'm not a retard, just give me any info that you may have that can help me possibly find the problem if you don't mind...thnx for any help in advance

If you use Windows Media Player, I suggest you download the latest updates for it, including the latest codecs.

That's your best chance since it's difficult to figure out what audio codec was used for your avi's.

If that doesn't work, then the codec is too old. In which case, you may have to redo the avi's by running them through a second time into a different format.

I don't think he really has that porn. I think this is a stall tactic so he can quickly fabricate one.

I just watched the end of eva a few days ago, and I have to say neon genesis evangelion is now one of my favorite animes, although it starts out kind of slow. You should encode some cowboy bebop for your next clip Searyx, something like the church scene from ballad of fallen angels. That has to be one of the best anime moments ever.

Those subtitles look good. Substation Alpha format is really nice for subtitles, I use it for my own encodes. Normally though, I rip the subtitles to text and convert them to .ssa format. That way they can be edited, color/size/font changed, or whatever. Then use Direct Vobsub for playback in any media player. That way you have clean subtitles at any playback size, and it doesn't take up extra bits encoding them into the movie itself.

I'm currently working on redoing my Vision of Escaflowne encodes and then will be going through Neon Genesis Evangelion. I have quite a bit of other stuff too. If anybody is interested in what I've got or wants some tips getting started encoding, just leave a message here.

Actually, I use SubRip to convert the VoB subtitles into a workable format, then convert them into SSA. If I need to do any fiddling, I load up Substation Alpha v4.08 to do my editing.
