Acustic gutar songs

Post by sarlen »

Big Love by Fleetwood Mac (The Chain) has to be my all time favorite acustic tune, with Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton a close second.

Anyone have some recomended listining along these lines for acustic?

"Fuck you gently" by Tenacious D deserves a place up there.

I think with a name like 'Fuckhergently', saying that its NWS is a bit redundant..

Acoustic version of DMB's Sattellite is better than Ants Marching.

i can play along to ants marching, so for me i get OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS more out of it than any other DMB song. Sattelite is a good song however, all DMB songs are for that matter. they're a great band. arguebly the most talented band out there right now.

Yeah, on a more serious note:

Songs like "Fire and Rain" and "Shed a little light" by James Taylor are excellent, especially in the live versions.

I don't know if I'd go quite that far. ;) I lost interest in them around the time they put out teh .. uh, Crowded Streets (?) album. I really haven't liked much of their stuff since then. Under the Table and Dreaming is by far my favorite of their works.

James taylor is awesome(one of the best male voices there's ever been IMO). Got to see him in concert and it was a amazing. Saw him at the "Gorge" amputheatre in eastern Washington State. The stage is outside and overlooks a beautiful river canyon out in the middle of nowhere. Easily one of the best times i've ever had. mmm happy times

Little Martha - Duane Allman
Harvest Moon - Neil Young
Bron Y'Aur Stomp - Led Zeppelin
That's the Way - LZ
San Tropez - Pink Floyd (think it is acoustic)
(Don't Go Back to) Rockville - Me and the band i was in a couple of years ago :p

MTV unplugged in like 1989 had Stevie Ray Vaughn on, and well, it was anabsolutely inspired performance. "Pride and Joy" on a 12 string. It was, not surprisingly, unfuckingbelievablyamazing.

Hehe and yes "Dont think Twice" is a great song. Very funny. I love it.

Three or four of these songs are available on the last SRV compilation that sony put out. It's a 4 disc (though one is dvd) of nothing but unreleased tracks (there may be one or two, but I don't remember any being previously released). Some live, and some alt takes. The Dvd contains only a few songs from his two appearances on Austin City Limits. Songs taht didn't make the broadcast, or if broadcast, didn't make the final dvd. One of which, he breaks like, his g string, and keeps playing the rest of the song around it. Then they trade of guitars during the verse or something. Even though it's a fuck up, it's pretty amazing to watch.

I've never been able to find a produced copy of this MTV unplugged performance though. I guess they weren't selling them yet, then.
