for the record, I refer to them as carbonated beverages...calling them coke is inconsistent, calling them pop is annoying, and soda works I guess.
The only time I drink Coke is with liquor.
I always preferred pepsi products to coke products, despite their evil side.
I used to be quite partial to Mt Dew.
and, Being born in texas, of course Dr Pepper is in my veins.
However, with the exception of random alcoholic outburts, I avoid carbonation.

BAKING soda is what you put in the fridge. Read the box. Soda is a correct collective term for carbonated beverages. Pop is some 50's slang that you Northern twits haven't given up.Wulfran wrote:NO!!!Its SODA! Not POP! What the fuck is wrong with the people in the midwest and other places that have more woods then streets... its called SODA!
Its fucking POP, you semi-litterate street trash from some urban godawful urban sprawl!!! SODA is what you stick in the fridge to absorb odors.
Let the debate commence

The Spanish are weird. They don't only drink Coke (as in Coca-Cola) mixed with red wine, they drink Coke mixed with Coffee for maximum caffeine effect.
It's fucking vile.
LIKE SIRENSA OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!
I'd also like to add that any flavored Coke (Vanilla, Cherry, Sausage, whatever) is an invention of teh devil and that drinking said flavored Cokes sends you straight to hell.

No hate for the Vanilla Coke, have to say it's quite good. Selling well enough that Pepsi is following up w/ their iteration of it.
Kinda cool that my wife writes about soft drinks for Dow Jones. We get to try the new stuff all of the time. Sprite Remix will be a bomb, the hippie route they're going to take will crash and burn.
I really don't care if it's Coke, Pepsi, or even RC Cola for that matter, as long as it's on ice, I'm the winner. Diet Dr. Pepper is THE best diet drink I have even tried. Mountain Dew's Amp is the only energy drink that doesn't taste like complete ass and Starbuck's Doubleshot is quite the little pick me up as well.

my brother in law mixed one of those at a family dinner last year.masteen wrote:Do you people still drink wine mixed w/ Coke? That is one nasty concotion.Rasspotari wrote:i like mountain dew the best , but 90 % of the stuff i drink is coke.
strangely enough the water that´s used in dew compliments it better if it´s U.S. water (read as unclean shit) compared to the water here. but U.S. coke is filth compared to the stuff here
it was pretty offensive. a. it tasted like shit, and b. he used my glass of wine to make it

Diet Coke all the way, although 7-up is pretty good as long as it has whiskey in it.
Two things about dr. pepper:
I have a theory about dr. pepper, when I was a kid I worked in a caddyshack (yes seriously) selling pop and food, and if you mixed all the different types of pop, some orange, grape, coke, root beer it had a taste remarkably similar to dr. pepper. So I think it might be made of all the spillage from other bottleing plants.
Also if you look at the link that someone posted a long time ago about last meal requests for texas death row inmates, the majority of em want dr. pepper. So dr. pepper drinker = potential homicidal maniac
Oh yeah, Its POP.

Coke > all (I drink like 50 cans a week...yeah I'm gonna die when I'm 30)
And I've never heard anyone call it soda in RL except for this one chick from LA I met a few years ago. Around here pop is what its called and soda is carbonated water...like scotch and soda or something like that.

/Agree Bubba...Bubba Grizz wrote:Caffine Free Diet Coke. Love the coke products due to my addication to carbonation. After drinking diet soda for so long it is hard to drink regular soda though I sometimes indulge and have Mt. Dew. Love the Dew but all those empty calories and sugar just don't make it worth it. If I am going to get fat (ter) on something it is going to be Taco Bell.
After drinking diet stuff the last 6 years (when I hit 22 my metabolism slowed WAY DOWN) the other stuff tastes weird...too thick....
Taco Bell is the 0wn....and also don't forget beer...I will take a stroll down the empty calorie path for some beer. Also when you drink like 10 cokes a day (which many readers here probably do, I used to) ...they are like 120 calories a can...that's 1,200 calories a day....your supossed to eat what 2,000 calories a day as a grown man? like 1,500 as a female. And less then that if your overweight.
-------------------------
Was it aranuil? I forget doesn't matter..but I agree WHOOP ASS IS THE SUCK. I had the stuff in the red can...I hated it...so did my little sister.
-------------
Sirensa...
Because Diet Mountain Dew is WAY different then regular....Dew's foundation is it's syrupy sludge...Diet Mountain Dew tastes like water from an stagnant pond, it's barely drinkable.
-------------
Decaffinated soda? No...I will never...it's like a party minus the fun.
-------------
Doesn't soda also make you retain water? I'm trying to cut back on even the diet soda now and stick mainly to water with some fruit juices and of course beer.....I'm on a fitness kick but....you gotta have fun so I can't stop on the beer. Cut back to only like 1-2x a week sure but not stop. I know the soda atleast makes my feel sick if I drink it before I work out...of course I binged last week and found out 5 roast beef sandwiches from arby's does also.
-------------
Dr. Jolstenstein sounds like too much work. Tell you what, make some up and send it...I'll taste test it.
-------------
Diet Vanilla Coke makes a good Jack and Coke....I make them weak because well, I'd rather have 8 diet vanilla cokes with jack that taste good than 6 that taste bad....eitherway will get me buzzed, either way has the same calories because it's still the same amount of jack. And last but not least..it's harder to accidently chug 16 jack and cokes then it is to drink 12. But usually I just drink beer.
Nice thing about jack and coke is that carbonation really slows you down and prevents you from having a shitty night hanging over the toilet. And at the same time it keeps you caffinated so you don't get tired early. A good portion of the parties are at my house, so getting sick or being the first one in bed are both bad things. Not that I really have to keep things here under control...

Hey, Kalu.....I just looked at that link to Sparks....I'd like to try that stuff but they don't sell it here. Sounds decent...although thier web site sucks ass as do the commericals they had on-line.
Rockstar while non-alchoholic had a much better web site (not only in cost but also in information provided), better music......but I think thier target market is a bit off. They seem to be targeting like african american rap artists....it's a bit of a narrow market and not one that I think is known for drinking energy drinks.

Much h8. YOU guys are the stupid ones...wtf, calling Coke "Soda" or "Pop". Like 80% of the drinks are MADE by the Cocacola company, they are all coke!Aranuil wrote:I'd add that if that map is accurate, and everyone in the south calls Soda, 'Coke'; THEY are the stupidest people on the map.
Edit : BTW, I dont get why people drink diet stuff. Most people I know that do drink it say they do it cause it is better for them, but the stuff they put in it in place of the sugar they take out is 10x as bad for you as lots of sugar, in fact is a neurotoxin. My cousin had to do this giant report on it in college, that stuff causes tumors in your brain and shit like that.

Just tried Rock Star for the first time today, and I have to say, I'm impressed with their strategy.
Essentially what they've done is created a drink that tastes NEARLY IDENTICAL to Red Bull, put it in a container twice as large, and charged the same amount of money.
I like the taste of Red Bull a lot, but from now on in if I have a choice, I'll be buying Rock Star.

Re: ...
The European food commision did a 10 year study on diet cola and determined it doesn't. Not sure how viable their study was as I only saw a blurb on the results in a Men's Health magazine, but hopefully it's accurate.Dregor Thule wrote:I dunno, but Diet's got the Asparthame, so it's a trade-off of diabetes to possibly cancer! Ya, the cancer thing was more me being shocking, I'm not sure how solid that is. BUT, aspartame can be a very bad thing regardless. I highly suggest checking this link out: http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/, it's pretty informative. There are other sweeteners out there that, for now, seem to be better, Splenda being the most prominent of them probably.
I personally use a natural sweetener called Stevia. The stuffs nothing short of amazing. I use it as a sugar substitute for tea/coffee and it works great. Don't get the liquid form of it tho, get the little packets of it, I find they do a better job. There's information on stevia at that site. It's also safe for diabetics to boot!
Diet Hansen's Soda uses Splenda for sweetener instead of the more common aspartame the other diet soda's use. The stuff tastes great, try and pick some up, I suggest Black Cherry flavour. I wish the popular companies would switch to Splenda instead of aspartame, or even look into the feasibility of using stevia, tho dunno how well that would go.

I'd rather buy the processed stuff personally
I like the simulation of sugar, even tho I know it's not. As for it being a pest, shrug, the stuff works good, and by all accounts is good for you. I don't know about a bad taste, maybe if you're using the leaves directly... I had a cup of coffee with sugar after using stevia for awhile, and I'll be damned if it wasn't TOO sweet, heh.
And yea, I said flavour. So?
