Grief Points

Post by Dregor Thule »

Could someone explain to me the grief point system? I had 9 I think, mostly from stuff like accidently shooting friendly turrets, some bug with trying to fire while someone is repairing you... How do I get rid of them, how do they affect me?

They will bleed off over time. When you get to very high levels it will lock your guns for varying ammounts of time.

Very helpful, thank you. Only one question, do grief points fade while offline?

Yessir, and they are currently fading fairly rapidly. I haven't had to kill anyone from our empire in about two days (i.e. people have stopped shooting the generators), so I'm back down to 80 or so.

I don't think your weapons lock until you get over 1000 points. It also seems like as you pass certain threshholds of grief, the rate at which they dissipate slows. For example, when I was over 100, they seemed to dissipate more slowly than under 100.

In general, it seems like grief is no longer an issue for the average player. I think the people that need to worry the most are those that drive land vehicles a lot. People running in front of your vehicle will give you grief pretty much the fastest now.

I think there's an 'official' grief explanation in the 'Mecha-Mega-Patch' post.

I was shooting fuck out of everyone last night(yes including Azian you'll be glad to know) and I managed 800, I know certain anti-Azian reaver pilots who racked up close to the magic 1000. But basically unless you're trying, nothing is going to happen to you grief wise. It was a different story last week...

In the patch message they mentioned that they put in an algorithm to scale grief as you do it more in short periods.

For example:
Shooting someone and then again in 30 mins is less grief then shooting someone and then again in 5 mins.

Azian is playing? What team? Doesn't matter, even if it's TR I'll gladly shoot his pathetic ass.
