System Req's

Post by Dregor Thule »

My brother was interested in playing, but was wondering how feasible it is to play on a 32meg video card. He has a good system otherwise.

I would laugh a little bit, but I am too hooked already and would play on a 32 mb card if I had nothing else. It will suck major donkey balls though on a card like that. You could pick up a 64 mb card and run it at the lowest settings for not very much $$$ and not be quite as frustrated because of ass frame rates.

PS is pretty texture heavy and the engine doesn't handle the offloading of old ones very well. I get a lot of grinding with a 128 meg card as it is.

I play on a near minimum spec machine, and it kind of bites for flying. For in the base or in a ground vehicle it works though.

For reference, my video card is a 32MB gf2 GTS, and I have 512M memory. The saving grace is that I have a SCSI drive system which gives me pretty good performance reading crap off the drives.

I use a 1G Athlon, 512M RAM, and 32M GF2 GTS and the game runs fine for me. Even flying. Though I have found that I suck ass at flying. I tried the Mostquito and I'll just say I found flying with a mouse a bit "challenging."

I'm running a dual 733Mhz P-III with a 128MB GeForce4 4200, I never crash unless disconnected and the frame rate rocks. Oh, and I got a sneaky home brew program upping the CPU priority on the planetside.exe to realtime, which probably helps.

I wouldnt recommend it, i have to play at a friends house just to run PS and here is my machine.

p4 2.6 ghz
ATI radeon 9700 pro
and only 256 ram (which is why i cant run it)

Its laggy on my friends machine that superceeds all requirements and gets low ping, but the game is fun even when your lagging so its all good =).
