This has been a major story for OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of the talk radio shows in CA for the past several months. Way to early to tell if it is in fact her but OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of signs have pointed to him killing her for awhile. I think he needs a remedial lesson on how to dispose of bodies if you are gonna do this type of thing.

I read about the 10K last night on a yahoo link, but its not there anymore. I'm sure its out there but I'm too lazy to look past cnn.com...Aslanna wrote:Supposedly he was arrested with $10,000 and his appearance changed while on his way to Mexico. I'm sure someone can post a current link. I heard it on the radio so no linkage from me.
I just hope they have evidence that he did do it. Unfortunately acting guilty (the money, the physical change, being close to the Mexican border) isn't enough to pass the "beyond a shadow of a doubt" requirement for conviction. Having an affair is a motive, but its a weak one. I've already read several people talking about how happy a couple they were and how they seemed to never fight. I know that doesn't mean anything, but the defense will be putting people like that on the stand to show that their relationship wasn't strained. Honestly, if I were on the jury and there was no physical evidence or witnesses to show that he was lying, I couldn't say that he was guilty.

There were supposedly two missing cement blocks from his home. These same two cement blocks are rumored to have been used in tying her down so that she would stay under the water. Unfortunately, the water shifted and pulled her head and legs from her torso and her torso was what was found. I find it a rather large coincidence that he just happened to be fishing that very same day at the very same place her body was found.

The cement blocks I would consider physical evidence. If she was abducted walking her dog, then it doesn't make sense that the weights came from her home. Everything else is technically circumstancial. Yeah, I think he did it, but in a court of law, without some kind of physical evidence to tie him to the murder, I couldn't convict.
The defense can offer up a pretty good argument about what you call his "fleeing." Consider the situation from the POV of a man who is innocent. His wife & unborn child are missing/dead, the community, his friends, and his in-laws have ostrasized him because they think he did it, the police are following him. Imagine not being able to go anywhere without accusing stares or worse. Its not unusual for a person to change their appearance and relocate in order to separate themselves from such an antagonizing atmosphere. I think about Russell Yates (Andrea Yates' husband) who happens to live down the street from my parents and is selling his house. He's moving because he can't go anywhere in our community without getting looks.
Another thing is I've seen interviews with close friends who said they never saw the couple argue, that the husband was always beaming when his wife was around. While it doesn't mean anything necessarily, it will help the defense. I just hope those cement blocks are from their home and that he gets convicted.

While I agree that he shouldn't be punished until he is proven guilty, the fact remains that this piece of shit is guilty. Let me ask you this, once they prove it in a court of law, will he still have been innocent right now?Kaldaur wrote:He is still innocent until proven guilty. Yeah, it's all just my opinion, but from what I've seen so far I have trouble believing in his innocence, and something about this particular case really strikes a nerve with me.

Unless he has a lot of money. The Bronco reference is a good example. Everyone had already declared OJ in their minds guilty. But on the other hand, I don't see how he is going to get a fair trial. This is one guy who everyone has already declared in their minds guilty.

In the eyes of the law, yes, he is innocent right now. I've been horrified in the post-9/11 rush of how whenever there were stories in the newspaper about all these people we rounded up for "possible" terror links, everyone always nodded and said, "Glad we found some more terrorists. Let's roast em." The whole process of a fair trial and innocent until proven guilty has been thrown out the window in the eyes of our people. Because they are accused, they areguilty.Sylvus wrote:While I agree that he shouldn't be punished until he is proven guilty, the fact remains that this piece of shit is guilty. If he (being Scott Peterson) did commit this crime, then may whatever gods are watching have mercy on him, because I would not. To kill a woman and her unborn child is a sickening thought. Let's not convict him, however, until it's over despite the evidence, be it material or circumstantial, against him.
