Got a demo disc today from a friend. All I can say is bloody AMAZING! In every sense of the word. They've got a great harmonic/hardrock sound with this beautiful, ethereal voice tying it all together. Think Linkin Park meets Enya - but without the obvious suck factor that would produce.

Great disc. - Highly recommended. And if anyone knows the back story on them, I'd love to hear where they came from.

I like their song off of the Daredevil soundtrack a great deal. Minus the guy who sings on it on the radio (lead singer from Disturbed I believe).

FYI, the band is from Little Rock, Arkansas.

I'll be getting the CD this weekend for sure. They're a genre blender but do so very well.

Evanescence is the heezie fo sheezie if you know what I'm saying. Unfortunately, the Bring me to life track on their CD has the lamo fook singing.. the track from the movie is better. Other than that I love the CD though. I picked it up a few weeks back and been listening to it almost constantly.

Ebonics has a place anywhere really. As does any other dialect of the english language. Its simply that it may not be interpretted properly and may need to have additionally explanation should it not be properly consumed by the general masses of whatvere veue it has been presented to. I think that Heezie fo Sheezie is a fairly commonly understood terminology though. I doubt anyone had problems understanding the context. If they did they need to step out of the hole they live in. Metal/Alternative and "Rap" have been trying to crossbreed for several years now anyway.

The singer is Paul Mccoy of 12 stones. 12 stones is good and so is this band.

I think that Heezie fo Sheezie is a fairly commonly understood terminology though. I doubt anyone had problems understanding the context. If they did they need to step out of the hole they live in. Metal/Alternative and "Rap" have been trying to crossbreed for several years now anyway.

I have no fucking idea what 'heezie fo sheezie' means.
I'm not ignorant of other cultures but I don't make a habit of hanging out with little white kids who speak 'ebonics' and have some bizarre desire to be non-white.
Like the Korean kids in my neighbourhood... why the fuck are they calling each other 'nigga'?

Personally seems a bit dangerous to use the word Neegah or Nigga without being black yourself. Using it in the right areas is a surefire way of getting a ass whuppin.

As for heezie fo sheezie.. Basically its an emphatic form of good. At any rate, I believe ebonics is more about a type of culture than it is any particular race at this point. Truthfully.. its not really ebonics at this point. There are to many outside the "African American" culture using the verbage to associate it with any particular race/creed/whaetver. Most of these kids that are using it are just trying to fit in or they are simply speaking as those within their environment. Ebony + phonics = Ebonics.
Ebony = black.
Phonics = pronunciation based on phonetic interpretation

It's essentially 'Black English'

To completely dismiss the 'black' origin of ebonics is ignorant and insulting.

Actually Miir I went to an inner city school. Granted it has been a while but I think I have a pretty decent idea as to the origins. I don't actually recall stating anything about the origins of Ebonics, but I am too lazy to scroll up and look truthfully. What I was referring to is that ebonics is no longer limited to black or african american peoples.
As to gamers using ebonics. 1337 speak is a derivative of ebonics or jive. And I know quite a few gamers that attempt to speak in ebonics.
As for Zamtuks correction to me heezie fo sheezie.. You may be correct there. Heezie fo sheezie was not something used in my geographic region. I haven't really kept to much track on the terminology for the last 8-10 years really.
Ah well, I'm willing to admit I'm slipping.

I never said that 'non blacks' don't speak in ebonics. I just think it's embarrasing when some kid from the suburbs tries to be 'cool' by using ebonics.... especially when that kid is asian.

And about gamer-speak, I think you're getting slang and ebonics mixed up... although there are some kids who think, for some reason, it's "cool" to talk in ebonics and pretend to 'hardcore niggas'.
I bet that the next person you hear typing ebonics in a video game is probably some white-bread teenager from the suburbs who's probably only ever seen 'real niggas' in music videos or on Cops.

Nah.. I don't think that 1337 is just straight up ebonics or antynhing.. but there is a good deal of overlap. Though I guess in truth 1337 borrow from quite a few colloquial slangs. I also suppose when I am referring to a dialect I am not only referring to the intonation of the spoken words but also to the colloquialisms associated with it.

I do agree that the people/gamers I hear using ebonics are for the most part young kids attempting to be cool.

Again if I am incoherent, please excuse me. I'm dying of heat stroke.

I really like this CD. I picked it up after hearing some buzz about it. The lead vocals are haunting. There is just enough hardness to the sound to make it work. Granted, the songs are all packaged for mass distribution but that is really what is required to sell a bunch of copies and get radio play. I dont fault them for that but I do wish the songs were longer and built a bit more. I come from the progressive metal following where songs are supposed to be long with time changes and melody changes.

Hey they were wrote the official song for the royal rumble or some such WWE thing this year, they must be cool! To me it's quite packaged, but that's just me
