I think it's hard to choose between all three and say which is my favorite. PS2 is great cause of the huge amounts of games that are available. XBox is head and shoulders above the other two in terms of hardware and power. The GameCube is great because Nintendo puts out some great games, but it's lacking in terms of DVD playback and stuff
On that note, GET THE NEW ZELDA GAME if you have a GC. Talk about fucking amazing graphics. I saw it at Target the other day and was drooling over it. I can't wait to get it.

Although I was very skeptical about Zelda's new graphics...after playing it for a while, it tis much fun. I must say the best part are the bombs!
On topic of the post...it is just too hard to say which is best...each has such greats and craps about them. I own PS2 and GC...and will probably never by xbox. There just are not enough xbox titles that I cant just get for either another system or the PC.

the only qualm I guess I have with xbox is that the controller is fucking clumsy as hell and takes some adjustment...even the ergo-super-programmable-wtfever controllers made by other companies are only a minor improvement...then again, could just be me...
I really like my ps2, there are some great titles on xbox...and i'd put GC right behind them...

Square is back to developping for Nintendo as well now.

The new microsoft S-controllers are really good. When I first got my Xbox I couldn't even really play it because my hands are really small and that fucking controller it came with was about half the size of me. I don't know wtf microsoft was thinking when they made that monstrosity.Truant wrote:the only qualm I guess I have with xbox is that the controller is fucking clumsy as hell and takes some adjustment...even the ergo-super-programmable-wtfever controllers made by other companies are only a minor improvement...then again, could just be me...

I like my PS2 the most and Xbox comes in second. The only gamecube games I have are the two RE games and the new Zelda.

PS2 baby!
PS2 all the way, I just sold my X-box due to lack of games. We beat all of the mech games and have Unreal 2k3 on our computer. Usually any games that come out on X-Box will be out on the computer or another platform later.
Playstaion has the wider variety of games the better quality of games. Like mentioned before Playstation is the only one that carries Final Fantasy and other games that are exclusive to the Playstation. (I'm a huge Devil May Cry fan
)
The Gamecube is geared towards the younger gamers or else I would have bought one.

Xbox all the way. How can you beat 8 gigs, a p3 733 MHz, music storage, a built in modem, a dvd interface greater than most $200 dollar dvd players, and halo? Morrowwind, Ghost Recon, and Mech Assault are also kick ass games. I love my Xbox.
I got a PS2 also and I like it, but not as much as my Xbox. The 8 mb card shit pisses me off. I admit the games are better on ps2, but the only games I play are Final Fantisy whatever, Gran Turismo 3 - cant beat that shit, Grand Theft Auto - Vice City, and Tokyo Extreme Races zero. I also got the stupid modem and EQOA because my friend convinced me to play it, but it makes no sense
I got Suikoden 3 and Jade Cocoon 2 if anyone wants to buy those.. unused but open.
Graphics are much better on Xbox, but the only game that seriously got my attention was Halo, and I still have fun playing that shit now and then.

I wouldnt be caught dead buying an X-box or PS2. Gamecube has faster loading times, better controllers, and better games imo. Nintendo has several games you won't ever see on an x-box or PS2; Resident Evil, Zelda, Mario/Lugi games, and Metroid just to name a few.
Gamecube also has compatibility with the GBA.

You better be trolling cos I have never heard such ignorance!Nintendo games are for children

Nintendo make the best games.
The N64 was criticised for only having about 12 titles released for it but 9 of those were the best games ever made!
Anyway.
I like the GameCube for:
Res Evil
Metroid
Mario Sunshine
the death star trench run at the start of an otherwise shitty game
It also has good controllers, is cute and costs about 40% less than any other console. Oh, and the carrying handle is genius!
I like PS2 for:
The huge library of software including all the greats listed here.
DVD playback out of the box (genius!)
Backwards compatibility (genius!)
I don't own an XBox for the reasons all ready mentioned here : stupidly big, not enough titles I can't get elsewhere, and the snob in me is offended by PC owners buying this thing then trying to talk to long-standing console afficionados as though they know something

If anyone actually owns any of the classic TV-game consoles listed here (Intellivision, Vectrex, old NES etc) take care of them cos they're all ready valuable and will only become more so over time.
If you want REAL retro, from my seat here I can see (all originals arcade cabinets) 2-player PONG, Robotron, Tempest, Pac-Man, Super Smash TV, 2-seat Daytona and a sit-in Star Wars. Having a boss who owns the largest collection of classic cabs in europe has its perks

I like Playstation 2 most of all, and also like my game cube....both have great software titles...Playstation playback rocks...
Final Fantasy Games rock, which the one for the game cube looks....not final fantasyish hehe....
So many Good games for the PS2/GC and like nothing for Xbox really
Some of my personal favorites are:
Devil May Cry
Kingdom Hearts
Metroid Prime
Zelda Wind Waker
Super Smash Brothers Meelee
Xbox has halo tho.....which makes it worth 1 out of 10 ppl having one for party purposes.

I was semi-serious about the games for children comment. Anytime you say the words Mario-XXXX, you have a kids game. It is my perception that Sony intended to appeal to the 18-30 crowd (the ones with money) whereas Nintendo is more popular with the sub 18 crowd. The games for the PS/PS2 have traditionally been less like Mario Brothers and it's ilk (Crash Bandicoot a notable exception) and more high-end sports, driving, and violence games.

Square is not about to switch access from the largest and most succsessful console to date.
XBox will fade into obscurity like the Neo-Geo, just give it time.
Bujinkan is teh win!
There have been OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of rumors that Square wouldn't be working with the Playstation anymore...However, everything I've seen that could be labeled as 'official' was that there would be no change in platforms, but that square would begin to make a couple FF genre games (similar to tactics reportedly) for the GBA.
Unless someone has leet beta infoz or something...it's all just heresay

You are all fools. Aran, for you, a game has to have a certain look to be 'adult' ? Mario might be one of the best games out there (haven't played it) but because it's got flashy colors and a history, you're too "mature" for it? Lol.. Gamecube rocks, open your eyes! Although I have a ps2 for a few things.
Gamecube:
Super Smash Bros.
Timesplitters 2
Zelda
NBA Street / NBA Street 2 (on all platforms, but takes that advantage away)
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Metroid Prime
Coming soon: Mario Kart for GC, Mario Tennis for GC.. I'm sure you'll dismiss these as kiddy games as well, but Mario Tennis for 64 was one of the most fun sports games I've played, and playing friends kicks ass.
Ownage Controllers
Square signed back on with Nintendo..
Compatibility with GBA
PS2 - GTA3, I use it for FF anthology/chronicles/tactics/9, FF10 is gay, FFXI Online (if you want it, will be on PC as well), Xenosaga
I just don't see the point of XBox. I played Halo and really really enjoyed it, but frankly, I already have a pc. A lot of the games that come out for Xbox either have/are direct PC converts or close enough substitutes (CS, Planetside =p). I already have a DVD player. The controllers suck balls.

Murr - Fires of Heaven - Black Dragonflight
Haha, I just found it lacking. Didn't play all the way through it so I'm not an authority or anything, just borrowed a friend's copy. I was just sated with the spiky hair, huge sword whiny protagonist after FF7..FF8 was retarded (see: draw system, gay) and FF10 didn't look much better. Flashy graphics, short game, blah.

I thought FF10 was okay.
I also am pretty sick of Squares angsty, whiney protagonists though. It's mainly because girls are buying more and more games in Japan now, and the developers are trying to appeal to them, because they mostly play those Square-type story based RPGs. For some reason Japanese girls really find that androgynous, spikey-haired, angsty pale guy look sexually attractive.

What Miir said about Mario is basically true
Aran, I was _exactly_ the same as you - I was prejudiced against Mario games because I thought them childish. Until someone persuaded me to play Mario64 and it's one of the most sublime gaming experiences ever. Sure it's cutesy but like a good Disney film it comes across as charming rather then cloying. Mario games are also demonically difficult in places - hardly kids stuff
Since then I've played a few other Mario games, Sunshine being the most recent and they all simply own. Touched by Shigeru Miyamoto and the man has magic genius fingers.
So in summary if your prejudice prevents you from playing Mario games you're doing yourself a disservice IMO.
Zelda too

X Box is the Winner!
Halo 4 to 16 Man CTF is a blast. I completely enjoy thrashing another teams "defense" while walking away with the flag. The best part you ask? Its In house Multiplayer, meaning the smack talk isnt long distance.
I dont have a X box.
I have two Halo-Boxes. There is no reason to buy another game. I do however enjoy the Sony Driving game that came with the purchase of my second system. Its fun when I am alone and dont feel the urge to masturbate.

Bards Really do have more fun...
Hmmm Xbox is nice...
You know actually Xbox is pretty nice if you want a machine that can: (not necessarily legally *cough*)
Play NES games
Play Sega Genesis Games
Play SNES games
Play Nintendo 64 games (I think there's an emulator)
And you can run linux on it and probably set up a webserver. (Yes it's been done on an unmodded Xbox now...)
Then again there will be no Metroid Prime for Xbox unless someone releases a GC emulator which probably wont happen.
But yeah then there's the controller...
