Heard this Song today

Post by Atokal »

I heard this song on the radio today and thought the lyrics were amazingly appropriate.

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

CHORUS 2
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Yes, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

I boycotted "I miss my friend" always made me want to cry which isn't what I'm looking for when listening to music :) Much prefer to put in some old Iron Maiden or Priest...

I miss the look of surrender in your eyes
The way your soft brown hair would fall
I miss the power of your kiss when we made love
But baby most of all

I miss my friend
The one my heart and soul confided in
The one I felt the safest with
The one who knew just what to say to make me laugh again
And let the light back in
I miss my friend

I miss the colors that you brought into my life
Your golden smile, those blue-green eyes
I miss your gentle voice in lonely times like now
Saying it'll be alright

I miss those timesI miss those nights
I even miss our silly fights
The making up
The morning talks
And those late afternoon walks

Rhyming 'nights' with 'fights'....
Genious, pure genious.

OH MY GOD!!

I'm gonna bid on his sleeveless shirt on ebay.

He's a sexy sexy manling.

I'd like to believe that he wrote the song as a personal way of dealing with grief and wanted to share it with the public. The real test would have been if he donated all the royalties from the song to one of the 9-11 relief organisations. (I have no clue if this was done or not.)

By this process I would assume that Michael Moore is cashing in on the war with his comments, add Barbara Striesand and a host of others that protest the conflict.

Orchestal Maneuvers in the Dark just did an anti-war song.

micheal moore and barbara streisand don't sell their crappy opinions about 9/11. there's a difference between having an opinion and having an opinion and selling it in the form of a shitty country and western song in order to get a platinum record out of it.

get back to me when moore or streisand makes a brainless song or a book that just cashes in on a tragedy in the most brainless and socially popular way they can, and get back to me with that argument.

tell me again why this song is "amazingly appropriate?"

it's trite songs like that which make gullible people like you think there's a link between Iraq and 9/11.

So when this artist released his song War he must have cashing in on the Vietnam war?

I do think Madonna was trying to make money off of the war but I think she figured out she might loose a lot by releasing her video. But now others probably feel like she would be doing it for the good of man kind.

Michael Moore will be making a film for next year I believe showing the links between Bush and Bin Laden btw, I saw it on a entertainment link the other day but can't find it now, thought it was with MSMBC but it wasn't there today. So I guess you will have to wait untill it comes out.

"Proud to be an American"

If you are thinking of "God bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood, it's at least 5 yrs old now.

Good song.

I got a more appropriate song:

You're a fucking dipshit
Here's a big dick, eat it
You're a wannabe American
I know you want to defect
but you can't
cuz you're a complete reject
and you prove it every day
every day
And I can't help to say...

[chorus]
It's so much fun to flame you
yes it is, yes it is
It's so much fun to flame you
yes it is, yes it is

Wrap duct tape around your genitals
or please get a vasectomy
for the love of humanity
we don't want to deal with your offspring
cuz only more stupidity in the world
will they bring
and I can't help to sing...

[chorus]
It's so much fun to flame you
yes it is, yes it is
It's so much fun to flame you
yes it is, yes it is

Now that's an appropriate song
I tell it like a true mackadelic.

You sir are a stupid fucking degenerate sphincter spike. Yes you are anti-american and filled with hate like your ancestors. It must keep you awake at night living amonst the enemy. America will never be your home, you may live there but your loyalty belongs to Saddam et al.

By the way what is wrong with wanting to be an American?
Although I am a Canadian and have no desire to live in the USA I can think of tons of aspirations worse than wanting to be an American. Oh like wanting to be a Xyun.

I think Xyun's song should be the official VV theme song, personally.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

That Lee Greenwood song actually dates back to the mid 80's.

You can't convince me that Darryl Worley is "cashing in on 911" and Michael Moore isn't cashing in on tragedy with "Bowling for Columbine". It won him an Oscar for pete's sake, and it was half fiction anyway.

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

My ancestors are filled with hate? That's right, I forgot that everyone from the middle east is a hateful warmonger. "Us vs. Them" mentality owns you.

Your ignorance shines ever so brightly here:
Dipshit wrote:It must keep you awake at night living amonst the enemy. America will never be your home, you may live there but your loyalty belongs to Saddam et al.
I'm not paranoid and fearful like you dumbass. I guess the fact that I am an American doesn't matter because of my race. Obviously, because I am of middle-eastern decent and anti-war I am an enemy of the United States and a Saddam supporter.

I guess if I were you I'd play the race card too. I mean, how else are you expected to defend yourself when your opponent is so much smarter? Thanks for the laugh, dipshit.
