Deny the obvious?
Here's a goddamn clue.
Look past next week. There are repercussions to this action in both long term commerce and politics that go so far beyond those fields that we could give the fucking oil away. If this whole thing goes even 50% right the long term prospects in that region are so good for the USA you are gonna have to have a spaceship to catch up to our GNP. And it ain't the oil, baby.
Show me how in the next decade we make back what we are spending to take those oil fields? We could have put a third the money inot exploiting our own oil resources and come out way ahead.
Christ people wear blinders so tight I wonder how you walk around.
Makes me very sad

It is financially adventageous to george W Bush to displace the Baath party and assist in the development of the petroleum industry in Iraq. There are repercussions to this action in both long term commerce and politics that go so far beyond those fields that we could give the fucking oil away
There are lucrative research and construction deals to be signed once a pro American government is installed in Iraq.
Contracts mean meoney.
Contracts mean jobs.
This is a good thing for Americans and the American economy.
You cannot deny that.
You're basing your argument on the false presumtion that we are saying this is ALL about oil.Show me how in the next decade we make back what we are spending to take those oil fields? We could have put a third the money inot exploiting our own oil resources and come out way ahead.
George W Bush has a many reasons for launching this invasion.
I believe he genuinely feels threatened by Iraq.
I believe he genuinely thinks that Saddam has WOMDs that he wont hesitate to use on American citizens.
You can't ignore that there is a certain 'revenge' factor involved... he is, after all, a cowboy. Saddam dishonoured him and his father.
The oil is potential 'spoils of war'.
A combination of all these reasons, forced him to push for an invasion of Iraq.
