Question of curiosity....

How many of you do all your selling/buying in the bazaar now?

Before the new UI patch, there was fairly brisk sales in lots of zones with the major trading/selling going on in FP. Now days, FP is almost a ghost town.

With my current set up, I have a lot of lag issues and don't seem to be able to stay connected very long in the bazaar, so therefore I haven't made any attempts to buy/sell much in the bazaar. I occasionally do a auction when I'm passing through or stopping in to buy more parts for celestial essence, but other than that I don't spend much time there.

For those of you that do spend a lot of time there - do you just set up your mule or selling char and just go away and come back to check periodically?

I have gotten 3 or 4 spells that I never bothered to get and barely even need already in Bazaar. One thing I've noticed is that rare spells/items are hugely overpriced. Traders assume that since there is a nice search engine, the number of players exposed to their items is greatly increased and the chance of a player paying more increased as well, especially if it is a high demand item.

Bazaar > FP

Have had a mule onlince since it went live.
But since there's a war between sellers the prices are at an all time low so I've only made ~12k so far.
But that's more than I would have made in FP since I've only been there for like 3 hours total last three years :p

Bazaar is heaven for us who collect stuff to sell but allways end up giving it to someone or selling to a vendor.

I fucking love it. I have been to the bazaar 3 times, only as a buyer, and have walked away with everything that I have gone there to look for. 2 spells and an Earring of Twisted Leaves. I have had an Earring of Woven Bark for months, but the match has been eluding me whenever I go to Chardok :) The price range on the earring was 3500pp to 500pp with a total of 6 sellers. Needless to say, it was a fantastic upgrade at a cheap price.

I generally avoided NFP like the plague. It took forever to find a specific item. Now, I walk into Bazaar, do a quick search, and buy on the spot. I am the type of player that would soner sell a spell to a vendor for 40pp than haggle in NFP for 500pp. It simply wasn't worth my time. As far as selling, I am in the process of setting up a mule on my GF's account. Whenever she is not playing her character, my mule wll be parked in the bazaar working for me.

/bazaar is one of, if not the, best additions to EQ.

The thing that the bazaar proves beyond a doubt is that there is WAY to much gear out their..

Welcome to the Bazaar there are currently 400+ traders and 8000+ items for sale..

VI should come up with some kinda of incentive for people to get rid of all the junk thats in circulation. And just get it out of the game..

Heh, I've had a mule parked there since Fri. Made about 12k or so, spent 4k.

I've got regular NFP prices from a few weeks ago on most of my stuff. Seems to sell pretty well still. Haste items and twink weapons are actually going up in price :)

I'll probably run my bard up there to replace my paladin as sales gimp, she keeps running out of food.

Staring at the floor helps a lot with lag and LDs. Just have to have a good mental map of the area :p

For me, all I had to do was turn the Clipping Plane all the way down. Once I did that, everything was a ok :)

Just dont do a /who while in the bazaar. It locks me up every time, and it takes forever to get world booted from the bazaar.

Say no to /who

Hrmm

Just seems like such a hassle to transfer all the crap to a mule, then buy the trader's satchels, and set up all the stuff to sell and then have to get somebody to xfer all the cash back.

Although I might give it a try one of these days - just so I can say I tried it.

My sales gimp is on my second account Dalur, as are many peoples. Shouldn't be a big deal.

Kas and myself will probably put one from each account there for convenience.

Well I have just recently acquired a 2nd account - the problem is trying to figure out how to get a phone line connected for that 2nd computer to do the trades and what not.

Whoever did the wiring didn't do a very good job as there isn't a convenient phone jack in the area where the 2nd computer is. So I'm having to try to make a hole in the wall behind the bathroom to fit the phone line.

I park my trader there every night.

It's been a pretty good deal. I've sold around 8k worth of junk, and picked up a few things I was just too lazy to go hunt.

Dalur, you don't need a second phone line. Just use ICS to share your current connection. Works fine.

Hehe

I don't wanna try to run EQ through 2 computers off of 1 dial up connection.

That would probably kill me.

Dalur, I run as many as three down one dial up line. If you get better than a 48k connection, you wont have any problems with two.

Zoning takes a little longer, thats about it.

So where do I find info about how to do this?

And does it require a degree to know how to do it - haha

It's pretty simple.

You need a crossover cable between the networking cards on both PC's. Then you assign them both IP addresses (example: 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2).

THen share the connection, and you are done.

Which operating system do you use?

what version of windows are you running?

you want to click Start, then Help, then search for Internet Connection SHaring.

there is a wizard that can help with the process. You of course need a couple of network cards in your machines (just get cheap $15 linksys ones).

If you dont want to keep shifting stuff between chars you can just set Dalur up selling stuff while your at work or out.

I did that with Samin yesterday. I sold a bunch of crap that had been taking up space in bank account. Only made a few k but cleared OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of space.

I also found a some things I had been looking for, for a while. I think this zone makes it 100 times easier to make twinks. I saw so much lower end stuff going for like 5pp ect. Cant make sweet twinks, but us poor people can probably give a char 1k, and get them nicely dressed with pp to spare.

For lag I usually go to the back, turn my clip plain down and stare at a wall. Like someone above me said dont do a /w, crashes me about 50% of the time.

Well my good machine has a network card in it already - but my older machine doesn't have one.

My good machine is running windows ME and my old machine is on win 98.

I could buy a network card for the 2nd comp, but I have no idea how to get it set up and running. Just seems easier and less taxing on my brain to make a small hole in the wall and run the phone cord through there and hook it up to the other phone line.

*edit*

Only reason I would want to use a gimp char to do the selling - is I have a full (almost) on my cleric and full (almost) inventory on my druid. I would be only to have room for 1 trader's satchel on either of them - and in addition, I would still need to get somebody to do the trades to get them consolidated onto 1 char. Would probably be just as easy to get a 2nd account up and running to do the xfers and stuff.

Heh, I've had a "storage dorf" loaded with 10 slot packs for a long time. If an item isn't nodrop it gets moved to him if I'm not going to need it soon.

Masteen - Remeber Dragaus? I'd bet he's one of the oldest level 16 paladins on the server :)

Yeah that Old lvl 16 pally is on my account drives me nuts but it seems like a good idea to drive him up to the bazaar since north freeport is a ghost town now.
