Yeah looks like the Sjia (sp) or at least some of them are doing an uprising. Being fired on by mortars though.. although I'd say it is hard to know what is happening with that sand stom there.

heh the sand storm is a major impact on the war, helicopters etc are grounded and you can't see 15 feet infront of you in bright daylight. It is obvious that that has an impact on the war.
Also seems like the uprising might have targeted some coalition forces as well as the Iraqi forces. I'd dare say it is total chaos in Basra right now and nobody can say for sure what is going on.
Could be a much needed boost for the Basra situation.
Hope it doesn't evaporate like so much other war news (like yesterdays chemical weapons factory find, and Umm Qasr falling on Friday, er, Saturday, no wait Sunday, ok definitely Monday - lunchtime at the latest)
Anyone believe they were going to uprise before US/UK troops were well in place around them to help..No they would of been slaughtered..Strategy. Tried it once before and were killed in early 90s...They dont trust the US after that, they gotta be sure its real this time and need time to organize it, and wait for something like a sand storm to help them storm and get closer to the Saddam troops. Wish em luck.
i saw a small piece about the sensitivity of the British radar that could detect the Iraqi mortar rounds as they fired, capture enough data points to plot a point of origin, then pump those coords to a British Marine canon that puts a shell right down the barrel of the Iraqi mortar.
You assume incorrectly, I understand kyou's sarcasm. You obviously don't understand mine...carry on~
Sorry I assumed you had better sense than to make a snip about abandoning folks to be slaughtered. I should have known better.
Why dont you jump on kyoukan for making the post first?
Kyou made a snide remark about something that has already taken place. Do a shitty thing and you should expect to take heat for it. To be fair most of us (including the Canucks) were part of that coalition that left the rebels to be raped.
Gurugurumaki's remark suggested it would be nice to do it again.
