Polygamy!

Post by Ravvenn »

I am a faithful viewer of Court TV, Luckily last night our raid ended in time for me to catch this episode of Mugshots.

This guy below was married to 2 sets of sisters, then married their daughters (2 girls each-they werent his) Total, he married 4 sets of sisters plus 1 stray lady. The first 2 sets of sisters left him, so he is now married to the 2 sets of daughters + stray lady. (confused?)

The guy made it pretty long without getting busted, then calls Jerry Springer to have a show about his lifestyle to see if the world is ready to accept him, his 5 wives and 29 children. This put a twinkle in the eye of some investigator, who noticed one of his wives was underage and started all the investigation.

I cant find a video clip or any of the wives comments about how they take turns sharing him, that was the best part :(
Anyways, I found it amusing! Enjoy

New York, NY - May 24, 2002 - In the latest episode of Mugshots, Court TV explores the underground world of polygamy through the life of Tom Green. Green was charged with bigamy and criminal nonsupport of his children and is now serving a five-year sentence in a Utah State Prison. Now, Green faces the much tougher charge of statutory rape. With comprehensive interviews of the prosecutor, Tom Green and his family, the one-hour documentary Mugshots: Polygamy on Trial - Tom Green (airing Monday, June 3rd at 10:00 PM ET/PT) gives viewers an in-depth look at the issue of polygamy and chronicles Green's attempts to take his controversial lifestyle out into the open.

Despite the fact that the Mormon Church banned polygamy over 100 years ago, there are an estimated 30,000 people living an illegal polygamist lifestyle in Utah. Tom Green exposed his lifestyle to the public in hopes of giving people a better understanding of it. Eventually, Green's celebrity caught the attention of authorities, and landed him in prison. Before he was imprisoned, Green lived with his five wives and 29 children on a 15-arce compound called "Greenhaven." To demonstrate that they just a regular family, the Greens invited Court TV into the compound to chronicle their lives and to speak to members of the family, including Green's five wives and many of his children.

In addition, Court TV speaks with Tom Green himself from the Utah State Prison, where he is awaiting his trial for the charge of child rape - a charge that stems from conceiving a child with one of his wives Linda, when she was only 13 years old. If Green is convicted, he will face life in prison

Edit: Forgot to add how he supports them! Get this, none of them work, the state supports them all
Found another link that has a pic of this fella, this one says he works but last night they said he and his wives get assistance from the state for all children.

IMO, if all parties are aware and fine with it, there is no reason what-so-ever that people shouldn't be allowed to practice polygamy.

Granted, the guy above took things to a whole new level, especially when doing the deed with is step children and under age girls. It's always the extremists that get all the press and fuck everyone over in regards to everything though, so I'm not surprised he'll be the polygamy poster child.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a polygamist, but I just don't feel the government has a place to tell people how to live their private life. I have met and enjoyed the company of many Poly couples though. It seems to work for them. Who am I to tell them different?

I don't really see the bigamy part being too bad. If the women are fine with sharing their husband..well 'ok' then.

I do find him getting 13-14 year old girls pregnant, not once but alotta times. I don't really think it is physically safe for a girl of that age to have children, whether or not she's mature enough of stable enough to raise a child (or 20) is another story.

From the show, the women seemed to be doing a good job at mothering all of the children. The house looked clean, they were all dressed, fed etc. How much of that the state paid for, I would like to know.

The best part was hearing this little girl, looked to be around 6yrs, name off all of her siblings..and at the end she says 'I think thats all, I dont know, I know there are OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of children here, thats it'

Utah only banned polygamy 100 years ago because the US government required them to if they wanted to become a state.

I find nothing wrong with polygamy between consenting ADULTS. The government has no right to meddle in your personal life and try to force morals on you.

That being said, this guy needs to have his testicles removed for having sex with a 13 year girl and getting her pregnant. That is child molestation in all states, except maybe arkansas, far as I know.

While I don't object to Polygamy persay... can you imagine the legal nightmares that would come up were one or three or more of said parties trying to get a divorce?

As long as states continue to require licenses to marry - it's in their best interests to keep the number of people in a marriage at 2. What people do on their own marriagewise, without state approval, should be considered their own business; however they should not be receiving state-funding to supplement their lifestyles.

I don't care how many times a person wants to get married but because of financial and social issues involved in polygamy people should have to sign a document absolving themselves from societal protections before it happens. That would get rid of people like this retard getting married and having the government pay for his 7 wives and 40 kids because he can't support them, and also divorces shouldn't be granted, only annulments.

The only drawback is a guy could still convince multiple women to marry him and then leave them out in the cold with nothing if he gets bored of them.

Therefore I have decided that all polygamists and their wives and any resulting offspring should be loaded onto a rocket and shot into the sun.

unfortunately the children are a continuation in the DNA line. So they either have to go too or permanently watched.
