Moral of the story: When appeal to rednecks you do, espouse a liberal ideology you shall not.

Better yet, when you disagree with someone, try to do so with a little taste and tact.

Just another case of celebrities running their mouths before they think... nothing new.

This whole situation is what happens when you put an overaggressive moron in power.

Maines has a right to speak her mind just like those rednecks have a right to boycott the Dixie Chicks music.

Hell, while we're at it let's have a book burning and get rid of all those history books that talk about war and shit since they're all so unpleasant.

I'm against Bush and this war. Let's go burn down that steakhouse down the street that has that Texas decor!!!

As much as I hate it when celebrities think their fame and money entitle them to being political experts, those girls are right. :P

She needs to stick to saying things that will appeal to her core audience.

HI AH'M A DIXIE CHICK AND I LURV IT WHEN MY HUSBAND BEATS THE SHIT OUT OF ME.

I like this article better. Apparently in Texas you have to stand at attention with your phony cowboy hat over your heart during Lee Greenwood songs now. Wonderful that if you don't pay your respects to Toby Keith you should "go back to Iraq."

Well, she obviously doesn't believe too deeply in what she said, because she issued a retraction and apology today. If you're gonna say stuff like that, you have to at least be ready to stand by it.

Trash your country INSIDE the border, not outside.

Don't do anything that would embolden the guy you're about to go to war with.

One extra day of war prompted by Saddam feeling that America's sentiment is against Bush, is one more day for our soldiers to die.

When you're outside your country, don't speak against it. Wait until you get home and vote the offender out of office.

If cornered, Saddam will fight to the death -- whether he thinks America supports Bush or not. He's more concerned right now with turning the Arabs' opinions against Bush.

Actually the moral of the story should be : If you make millions around a very well defined group, dont speak out in a way that will piss them off.

I would have had little more respect for this girl had she not apologised on her website as soon as her statements were hitting the wallet.

Hanoi Jane stuck by hers despite the blow to her career and despisement by many Americans ever since.

Isn't it about time to hijack this from a "Dixie Chicks thread" into a "Chicks with Dicks thread?"

Who's Hanoi Jane? Exactly, they're in a business, they want to keep it that way. She shouldn't have spoken probably, not because BUSH IS TEH WIN, but because it was just bad business. But she has every right to say what she wants, just as those boycotting them have their rights. When I read about this the other day, I wondered how many hardline republicans who love their Dixie Chicks did a complete about face on the villainous, traitorous dogs.

As for showing their support for their country, fuck that. You don't support someone you think is WRONG, is doing a bad job, and shouldn't even be there in the first place. Should german jews have showed their support for Hitler despite the fact he wasn't a real swell kinda guy? And no, I'm not likening Bush to Hitler. Mr. Potatoe Head would be a closer analogy to Dubya.

LOL. She killed Americans, yet still is allowed to live in US. She's a piece of shit, that's who she is.

In 1988 in an interview with Barbara Walters on 20/20, Jane Fonda talked about her Vietnam visit and issued what some feel was an apology but which her critics say was not enough. Fonda said, "I would like to say something, not just to Vietnam veterans in New England, but to men who were in Vietnam, who I hurt, or whose pain I caused to deepen because of the things that I said or did. I was trying to help end the killing and the war, but there were times when I was thoughtless and careless about it and I'm...very sorry that I hurt them. And I want to apologize to them and their families."

My friend's dad was a huge into the Civil War reenacting. He was one of the extras duriing the filming of Gettysburg.

Anyway, for some reason or other, Jane Fonda was going to make a visit to the field and watch the reenactment/filming of a rather large battle. When that was announced, all the men bitched/moaned and basically talked her down at every given opportunity. That is, until she actually arrived there, and then they lined up to get her autograph.

Americans are fickle.

Had no idea this stigma existed about Jane Fonda. Well, I learned my new thing for the day, yay me.
