I remember watching Krimson clear out the entire Aviak village on the way to the first BotB.

I remember a certain druid casting harmony on Mayong at that GM event, so he gfluxed everyone there LOL.

I remember AEing the entire Halloween GM event with Skunki, Kadie, Toalin... and Fnort!

I remember completing the East Karana part of that event, depopping the whole zone, and pissing off about 120 people.

I remember Millie tanking the named draco in Rathe because someone trained it to zone with 5% health left.

I remember Al'Kabor popping right in front of me, starting the fusion ore quest in GD. We chatted for a few minutes before he started the event.

I remeber my facination with Unrest. I leveled up in the coutyard and worked my way up to finally being able to go into the mansion, eventually being able to go into the *gasp* basement!

I remember just getting ready to commit myself to that part of my epic.. I was in Cobalt Scar and was just getting ready to get a port over to NK so i could start camping it..

Server crashed.. came back up about a half hour later.. I get a tell like 5 minutes later from a friend that was in SK with their level 25 alt telling me the stupid horse is up.. Grumsh hearing my plight got a porter over to me and got me there..

I'm sending tells to my friend keep watching it.. if someone goes for it engage it.. he's like i'll die.. i'm like just hit it and run to the NK zone i'll find ya. i find him at like half health the horse still going somewhat strong. sick the pet and blast it to smitherenes and had my cloak in 15 minutes and 1 quillmane kill..

I was a lucky mage that day.. it made up for the 160+ hours camping the power of Fire in Sol.


I remember killing my first Orc Pawn in West Freeport and running to the guards in anticipation of the entire orc army coming to get me..

I remember a high elf wizard named crynnsom that i have never seen since that day when i was around level 8. he kept telling me how great the xp would be in misty thicket. he led me through kithicor at night no less.. being a blind human it was fun to say the least.. finally made it there and this halfling starts giving this wizard crap about his god and so on and so forth.

I'm like wth.. the discussion is getting rather heated and i'm just watching all this and finally the halfling says to the high elf in shout "i will now show the world for the deciever you are" or some such nonsense.. right at that moment the high elf turns in to a dark elf right before my eyes.. The halfling then starts running around in a circle around the now revealed Dark Elf screaming.

I was laughing so hard at that point.. it was my first exposure to anything really resembling role playing in EQ. I never saw the highelf/DE again after that day. He had helped me out the previous couple of nights with some pointers on doing different things and i can say he was the first person i had on my friends list.

Mostly i just remember that feeling of wide eyed wonder when seeing something for the first time.. the magic that was the unknown.. before i knew about spoiler sites. before i found map sites. before my desire to level level level level and level some more.

- Cries of "RED ELEMENTAL TO ZONE" in Lavastorm - as red con elmentals were the scariest mobs in the lands at that time.

- Cries of newbies fleeing in terror whenever a lesser mummy spawned at the undead camps in Nektulos. Equal cries of distress whenever a Kodiak was seen too close to the newbie log.

- My first Runed Totem Staff at level 7. I was Queen of the Nektulos Newbies. It went quite well with my nearly full set of cloth armor and pair of dervish cutthroat rings.

- Life before rezz timers - when urban legend dictated that because the revive message said you have gained back experience, that it must be true.

- Spending the first 35 levels of my EQ career permanately encumbered due to heavy armor, non-weight reducing bags, and lots of junk garbage heavy phat lewts.

- Being charmed in Mistmoore while the rest of my group evac'd to safety.

EQ was certainly enchanting back in the newbie days.

Haha, no way.... Necro pets with two 18 delay daggers were the sickest.

Most people didn't realise it because every necro solod back then. No point in grouping when they could kill stuff just as fast by themselves. I remember Kartak dueling an unbuffed necro pet and getting his ass kicked HARD. A lvl 39 necro pet did better melee damage and had more HP than the best equipped warrior

I remember the "Week of War" event in EC/FP, my level 25 druid got the kill shot on the female NPC in NFP and I quickly ninja'd a FBR, a Combine Dagger and a Robe of the Evoker. I sold the FBR for 4k (OMG!) and gave the Robe of the Evoker to a HIE friend for her eq wedding, so she could have a nice looking white robe. (For those who have never seen it, the Robe of the Evoker was an AC6 WT1 robe that looked like the ones the Nexus Scions wore. It was only dropped in GM events, and I now regret giving it away based solely on that.)

I remember my first raid was to Unrest, and we wiped.

I remember sitting in WC spamming for ports and watching KoE zone in and thinking "omg if I ever get that uber I'll be happy."

I remember the first time I got KEI.. I could cast FOREVER.

I remember being halfway through a "hell level" when the hell levels were removed and powering through the rest of it thinking "I'll be 60 in NO TIME!"

I remember LoIO supporting 120 people.

I remember the bazaar before it worked. With all 4 people in it.

I remember when Scions were added to the game.. And no one knew what they were for yet.

I remember being scared when I zoned into Shadowhaven, thinking the guards would kill me and I'd have to wait on a scion again.

I remember the first time I figured out what charm did.. I charmed and buffed a bear in EC, sent it to ks an orc that some newbies were killing, charm broke and I evac'd, and the bear killed every newbie at the camp. (To this day I still go back and do this every once in a while.)

I remember seeing Saiphos' broadcasts for arena GM events every week or so.

I remember the CT revamp.

I remember completing the Stein of Moggok quest in hopes of getting one to sell so I could buy a Forest Loop.

I remember spending 5 levels in FM, hoping to get a Forest Loop, and saw only 1 drop the whole time.

I remember my first post to this board.

I remember:

The Sons of Steel holding a newbie event in Queynos the first day I played and being awarded a studded collar and a +3 dex earring. (it was a pity award for finally figuring out the loc command and actually finding them)

Saving to buy cloth and non stat jewelry to fill each slot.

Deciding at level 4 to head to High hold to do the bard messenger quest and seeing a camp fire full of people in WK, who turned out to be bandits.

Enlisting a bard, Windolin to find my corpse. He got an uber ranger to drag me and she wondered why I needed the pitiful equipment on the corpse.

Having my first platinum in the bank.

Saving for weeks to get a combine sword so I could kill willowisps.

Getting feared and losing my corpse in Kilthicor on my first trip to Rivervale and being lucky that a high level (50) necro was soloing there.

Finally making level 20 so I could join Guardians of Veeshan.

Healing a guard who was fighting Fippy and being quite insulted that he killed me for casting on him.

Tantolar taking me to kill the guy for my ivy leggings, I was super equiped then.

Getting punted 3 times on my first boat trip to Butcherblock and kept reappearing in the wrong direction. A kind GM finally just ported me there.

Falling in the dreaded hole in the tree at Blackburrow and Gazintor/Azarus diving down several times to loot my stuff.

Finally getting high enough level to join my first raid with GOV.

Sargeras and Brutusk trapping me agaisnt a rock while acting pervy.

I remember seeing NPC's that had normal looking names as a newbie, trying to talk to them, then getting pissed when they didn't respond.

I remember being in front of vendors countless times and hitting "a" on accident.

I remember someone giving me that axe off Lord Darish when I was level 5, then becoming a killing machine!

I remember hitting level 20, getting a last name, then quickly going anon so I'd look uber to newbies. This was true when I got dual wield too earlier!

I remember running to unrest and falling to death in DC most of the time on the way.

I remember my rl friend and I printing out a map of how to get from Kelethin to Kaladim, and being scared shitless the whole way there. It was all worth it when we turned in those CB belts though.

I remember seeing a troll warrior twink in full crafted and an uber executioner's axe in CB- Sarge! haha

I remember wanting to get to 35 as quickly as I could so I could get in the uber ghost groups in unrest so I could farm the jagged bands to make tons of pp.

I remember the boat leaving me on sister isle before I had a chance to buy the kiola nuts and get back on! BAH!!

I remember falling to death atleast ten times as a newbie from the city of Kelethin.

I remember people auctioning and simply saying "Yak", and thinking how uber they were.

I remember being in OG and racing CoE to Venril Sathir.

I remember searching every inch of ToFS for two weeks trying desperately to find the secret way to the 8th floor shortly after velious came out.

I remember hating Retlon Brenclog with every fiber of my being. Once I was able to kill him, a week never passed that I didn't return to CB atleast once to slaughter him over and over (I seriously did this up until the time I retired).

I remember leading a raid of about 24 OG's into WW awhile after velious came out. It was foggy and I was trying to take a shortcut. I didn't realize most of the raid didn't have levitate on. Literally half the raid fell to death in the valley where the DN portal is. "Well, if Brotha jumped off a cliff, would you?"

I remember getting steamrolled by CT on Oter's epic, then sitting on my ass along with most of OG for over a week in Sol B to ensure victory. Then two days after getting his epic, Oter and Leelee leaving OG for FoH.

I remember thinking Fesuni was so hot! Since then I've learned to be wary of manginas!
